See, this is why I push back so much on the Dominguez talk. Everything always centers back to "but Volpe". We know he sucks. We know he should've been gone. Complaining about that, but then turning around and saying "well, Dominguez should get the same treatment" makes no sense. Compounding one mistake with another. You have to let your prospects play consistently and find a steady spot in the lineup even if they struggle early. They’ve had no issue letting Volpe stink up the place every day for 3 years. There’s no justification for back to back years gluing him to the bench for Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham when everyone knew each of them would be gone the following season and in Verdugo’s case couldn’t even stick on a team this year at all. Wells got to play all year while posting a .270 OBP and not even hitting his weight as well.

And Wells is a catcher. So that's an apples to oranges comparison
Grisham outplayed him all season, but he needed to sit because Dominguez needed an arbitrary amount of PA?
We say the Yankees don't prioritize winning, but then say they needed to prioritize Jasson Dominguez.

The big issue with the Yankees is a lack of a long term plan. So much of the roster during Judge’s career (basically everyone but him, Stanton, and Cole) are here on a year by year basis and that’s the issue. It’s constant patchwork instead of long term commitments to star free agents or developing young guys. That’s no way to build a lasting contender.1. If you're already assuming whoever else is coming from the system is a mistake then this team is doomed no matter what they do. They have to prioritize developing their own guys regardless and not by accident like they've seemingly done with everyone else.
2. Grisham was smoke and mirrors the whole time. Riding a hot streak? Excusable. Riding with him when he was ice cold because we were praying he'd just run into one? Not excusable. He had some timely homers. That masked the fact that we were hitting a .216 guy at leadoff with an OBP in the 2nd half that was .001 higher than Jasson's first half OBP. Pop was the only advantage he really had. That and believe it or not, Grisham could never figure out Yankee Stadium. He hit .195 with a .700 OPS, but hey he hit 13 HR's! Awesome! Yankees gotta cut out this mentality of HR's are awesome even if you offer nothing else. And when it came time to shake shyt up, they benched Jazz before they ever benched Grisham. At the very least, the concept of starting Jasson in a game and bring in Grisham later for defensive purposes (heh) should have been explored since they got off to an 8 game over the Jays doing that.
At the end of the day, Grisham was always more than likely a 1 year guy. Jasson, like Rice, like now Cam, Wells, and previously Volpe were guys we hoped would be here for a long long time. If they don't believe that he can be that in this case (and I think they've made that decision already) then he had no business being on the big club past July. But they're not gonna learn from this. They'll do this to Lombard and whoever else after this because from the GM to the captain to John from Ronkonkoma, they think developing players and winning don't mix and furthermore, think it's some other team's job.
Lastly, this team never had a chance of winning a World Series. They failed in getting back to the Fall Classic, but they woulda lost to whoever was coming outta the NL and that was true even when the Yankees played their best ball, because even at their best they still did all the dumb shyt that was gonna cost them in October. Once Soto left and Gil and Cole got hurt, this was a year to pivot and if we won anyway, cool but we needed to learn some things about the guys we've brought up. All we've learned is that without a shadow of a doubt, Volpe won't make it. Ben is a hitter that needs to stick to one position on the field. Wells can defend but he's learned every negative tip the Yankees can teach him as a hitter and that they have no idea what they wanna do with their outfield with regards at least to Jones.

Ain’t shyt gonna change as long as Hal is the owner.

Whoever they are, they took some serious time to compose their thoughts before typing that.My goodness. What a tweet that was.
