Nah these are the repairs he had to make after he stopped renting the house.

He decided to sell it.

The girl living there had 5 kids under 13 and they wrecked that bytch. Busted windows, holes in walls, destroyed the appliances. Broken toilets. They carried it like they didn't give af about that house.

But I guess he deserved it for having the audacity to expect to make money from an investment

The few people I know who take vouchers have a similar story.

My dad's neighbor is a black man who rented a house through section 8.

He said he'll never do it again.

The repairs he had to make to the house ate up all the money he made from rent. He basically took a loss.

Caused hella stress in his marriage. Almost got divorced.

You might not like their reasoning, but private property owners should have the right to do what they want with their property.

The family business is real estate and we have quite a few Section 8 homes (single and multi-family) -- and sadly your dad's neighbor is telling the truth.

It's pro's and con's to Section 8 - but it really depends on how well you vet tenants.

I have some horror stories -- but we also have many success stories.

People need to be honest about what they can afford -- and also be responsible when staying in someone's a rental property.

Property taxes, insurances and other expenses needs to be covered - and landlords need to make sure their rent covers it and more.

This makes absolutely no sense

Well one thing that is bad is once the owner starts losing out on potential rent they let the buildings go to shyt. The neighborhood goes downhill, and the location and services aren't as nice as they were when the tenent initially moved there.

this could take years and just cause one building has rent control it doesn’t mean the rest of the building in the neighbourhoods will be.

Monica’s apartment on friends was rent controlled :mjpls:

I've had to talk to 2 tenants this year about raising rent. Both of them got in before rent control so lucky for them they are paying much cheaper rent than they should be. One guy paying $500/month less the other $350. Neither of them wants to pay more rent. They just wanna stay there forever as the gap grows between what they pay and what they should pay. I'm seriously considering selling now. I lose money every year. They think I'm going to allow that for much longer? Then they'll cry bloody murder when they're out on the streets having to pay market rent. Don't take advantage of people.

Have you done any updates? Adding Landlord/property insurance? Have your property taxes increased? If so, you can definitely put in a increase.

Also, are they Section 8? If so, you can request a rent increase. You would need to go through the House Authority and their case manager - and they will approve it. As long as it's not that much - and justified - I don't see the issue.

residential real estate is not that profitable unless you own a bunch of it. Residential Real Estate is the wrong business to be in if you are all about the buck. You are going to sink money in maintenance with not that much profit.

Lol so if landlords can't make a profit off of their property they paid for, and decide not to buy property, what's the next move?

Let me guess, the Government should just take over housing and assign everyone a place to live right?

But don't put me in some icky suburb or county, I need to live in the city. Me and 50 million other millennials.

What do you mean there's not enough room for all of us?

But seriously, it seems like a whole generation of people just completely don't understand supply and demand. They take it as a personal attack when things they hype up and covet increase in value.

After working in banking for years, I’ve grown to LOATHE people. Most people want everything for nothing. They fukk themselves over through their own illogical idiotic decision making then blame the world for their consequences. I don’t understand what goes through people’s head. These same people don’t want to pay Netflix an extra DOLLAR a month but they expect landlords to rent property at a loss? Buy your own property and shut the fukk up. You can get a mobile home for $10,000 if you broke.

Someone called that dumb ass post the best post on the Coli of all time. :mjlol:

Who cares that housing is becoming unaffordable, and that its taking up more than a third of peoples paychecks...Lets all cry for the real estate folks who can't maximize their profits:skip:

The Coli Capitalists. :manny:

This is America homie, where those with money are in the right and everyone else must be jealous or irresponsible.

I can't believe people are defending landlords of all people :mjlol:

Calling to ease regulations like that's going to stop them from being greedy predators :hhh:

How quickly we forget why those regulations were put on the books in the first place.

This is one of the dumbest post in the history of the coli. And everyone who dapped it is equally stupid. You guys need to stop pretending to have done any research. The only smart thing was @Barnett114 saying there is a lack of affordable housing and more units need to be built as well. These policies are not i isolation. But the tendency of people to just assume that the person with money is the one doing something right is one of the most problematic issues in America. Raising rates 10 percent over the year isn’t to cover any new costs. It is to maximize profit at the expense of the tenant.

If the property tax and mortgage on a house is $600, you really expect the landlord to only charge you $600?

What's the point of buying houses then?

Rent depends on location. Would you pay $2000/month to live in Alabama? Would you pay $2000 to live in San Diego?

My point in some locations demand more money, people are willing to pay more because of the area. You really can't expect to live in San Diego for $800/month?

Nobody is forcing to live there if the rent goes up. It's called demand. Either pay up or move. You can get a 1 bed room in the suburbs for $700

You must be a slumlord somewhere.

Peasants like us are in favor of rent control because its the difference between having somewhere to live and being homeless. I know you six figure coli brehs cant relate to us, but some of us just want to live in one place more than 6 months at a time.

BUY.....A......HOUSE
