First of all I don't own rental property because it's too much work for too little money.

Second of all, no tf its not.

It's usually a matter of having to tack on an extra 20 or 30 minutes to your commute to work to move somewhere cheaper.

Yea, how dare people not want to pack up all their stuff, find a new school for their kids, and drive an extra 30 minutes to work, pay more in gas, put more miles on the engine and tires and move somewhere else....

Only have to do it all over again when their new landlord raises the rent.

How dare the ungrateful peasants have a problem with that

Some cities like here make the developers restrict a certain amount of units to a income restriction which is another temporary solution.
Of which is offset by tax incentives to alleviate the costs that are absorbed. The money developers lose on income restriction is gained back in tax relief.

You really said this ahyt when it's the landlord's who historically refuse to rent to black folks and continue to refuse to rent to black Section 8 folks

My dad's neighbor is a black man who rented a house through section 8.

He said he'll never do it again.

The repairs he had to make to the house ate up all the money he made from rent. He basically took a loss.

Caused hella stress in his marriage. Almost got divorced.

You might not like their reasoning, but private property owners should have the right to do what they want with their property.

Then you take advantage of the plethora of programs available to first time home buyers and u work towards owning a house.

I've seen CNAs making 13 bucks an hour buy houses.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I’m against rent control also

Rent control is probably just a much as a reason as to why NYC expensive to same degree as gentrification.

As a financial counselor I have not met a single New Yorker that actually pays $2,900 for an apartment even though all these websites like to post the average market rent for the city.

There are better alternatives to rent control that I can speak on.

People who also live in rent control apartments are stingy also.

Lol so if landlords can't make a profit off of their property they paid for, and decide not to buy property, what's the next move?

Let me guess, the Government should just take over housing and assign everyone a place to live right?

But don't put me in some icky suburb or county, I need to live in the city. Me and 50 million other millennials.

What do you mean there's not enough room for all of us?

But seriously, it seems like a whole generation of people just completely don't understand supply and demand. They take it as a personal attack when things they hype up and covet increase in value.

Dog, I'm a landlord and I just can't stand how people feel landlords are responsible for looking after renters. GTFOH! This sense of entitlement is crazy. They only want to live in the best areas in the city and don't realize that shyt cost money. fukk em. Tired of millennials. Giant, entitled babies.

Lastly rent control does not work. It actually increases rents. We have that shyt in Toronto. 1.8% is the most you can raise rent. Complete joke.

Ehhh...the repairs Section 8 forces an owner to make are requirements that the Housing Authority would require anyone who had a home inspected to make. The problem is most people that rent, dont get an inspector to come in to the property beforehand. Section 8 does. If he spent all his money on repairs, he shouldnt have been renting that place in the first place because it wasnt up to code. That or his rent should have been higher to offset maintenance fees.

People need to understand predatory slumlords are not the same thing as a homeowner. Thats like saying wolves are the same as Pomeranians. If there is rent control, then there needs to be tax assessment and property tax controls that can not exceed the rent control percent too at the very least.

The fact is that any place that has rent control needs to make homes that are NOT owner-occupied, property tax free.

Doesn't matter when the supply side colludes to keep prices artificially high. :umad:
:mjlol: it starts and ends with the Fed.

they dictate how the money flows downward. They just trying to make money the only way they know how

problem is people are not financially educated to understand how money works.

government controlling things is not going to fix anything based on the current monetary system. If anything it will just keep more people permanently poor.

Keep pushing socialism though  massa knows whats best for us
