A possible solution would be for the government to subsidize the rents of those that can't afford it. They should commit to pay the property owner the difference of what the median property price for a similar property in the area is. Why should the hard-working landlord be punished for factors within the economy?

Folks on here be like buy a house :mjlol: Do y'all got House payment money? do you have good credit? Cause if you don't have any of these, there ain't a possibility of touching a house.

Landlord shouldn't be able to charge over a certain price, and if they do they better offer what that certain bracket needs. Folks be charging 1700 for no washing machine, miss me with ohh poor landlords. :russ:

This is one of the dumbest post in the history of the coli. And everyone who dapped it is equally stupid. You guys need to stop pretending to have done any research. The only smart thing was @Barnett114 saying there is a lack of affordable housing and more units need to be built as well. These policies are not i isolation. But the tendency of people to just assume that the person with money is the one doing something right is one of the most problematic issues in America. Raising rates 10 percent over the year isn’t to cover any new costs. It is to maximize profit at the expense of the tenant.

C'mon bruh.. Anybody with an above average IQ (which is not most on this site) can see that you saying this post is "one of the dumbest in Coli history" is clearly some emotional bullshyt. Instead of saying you disagree and logically refuting what he said you said some inflammatory bullshyt because you know us black folks are a sucker for drama. Imagine if you were somebody from the ghetto who struggled their entire life to buy a piece of property to profit of.

You never went out because it was too expensive. Gifts on christmas and holidays were almost non existment because you wanted to save money. You worked overtime at the call center because you wanted to stack your money. You avoid drugs and alcohol and almost all social functions because you see that as nothing but a financial drain. Eventually you save enough to buy a property and you rent it out. It's been a year and now you want to raise your rents. Then you come on thecoli.com and a negro starts talking to you foul as if you're some capitalist overlord because you want to raise your rents. GTFOH.

I understand your sentiment in that in a lot of major cities there isn't enough affordable housing but to paint every property owner out as some evil capitalist scum is some dishonest collectivist identity politics bullshyt.

Being that this is TLR, I get that there are always gonna be a disproportionate number of troll posts and dap fishers, but it's pretty stunning the amount of supposedly black people in here that will go out of their way to promote the belief that poverty is the result of personal individual failures, and irresponsible immoral behavior.

Whenever you see anyone spouting bullshyt propaganda that basically says that exploiting people for profit should not only be encouraged but respected and emulated, your :mjpls:alarm should be deafening.

Well what's stopping you from moving to a cheaper location? Not every area has increases in rent.

Nobody talks about what if that $20,000 roof needs to be replaced. Or that $8000 HVAC unit needs to replaced. Or having to replace the plumbing system. Or if the area becomes Detroit 2.0 and the house is now worthless

"Hey guys, whats so unreasonable about constantly uprooting your life and moving to increasingly shytty neighborhoods because i arbitrarily decided to raise the rent?"

nikkas in against rent control but also against gentrification lol

They go hand in hand dummies

I'm not necessarily against rent control. I'm against nikkaz acting like implementing such a policy is so obvious that anybody who disagrees is automatically capitalist scum. I'm too smart to think in such a basic way.

The problem with poverty is that it's a multivariate issue - there is not one cause. In the black community we are taught that all poverty is due to systematic white supremacy which is partially true but the problem with that logic is that not all black people are in the same financial position. So if the argument is that all blacks are poor due to racism then the logical question is - why are some black people rich and some poor? Of course you have the blacks who were gifted with exceptional physical talent and made it into the NBA or NFl or those with musical talent who made it into the music industry but what about those black people who grew up in the hood with neither?

Is any of the variance in black achievement due to personal choices? Of course!! If me and pookie go to the same high school in the hood and I take my studies seriously, get a full ride to college then get a good job and pookie doesn't do anything but smoke weed - is that totally white supremacys fault? Well partially because pookie was probably bought up in a destructive environment caused by the destructive history of whties in this country, but so was I. Like I said there's more than one variable that goes into what makes somebody successful.

Then you take advantage of the plethora of programs available to first time home buyers and u work towards owning a house.

I've seen CNAs making 13 bucks an hour buy houses.

In what universe is the average CNA, or any worker making $13 an hour, out here buying houses? :stopitslime:

I've been in the healthcare care industry for close to 15 years now. This is perhaps the most duckiest of ducktale posts I've ever seen in here.

I've worked with hundreds of CNAs in my life in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. NONE of them have been property owners based off their income alone.
