Exactly, Im in a position now where I could go somewhere else and make more BUT why risk getting into a situation where I may have to put in more hours, have less flexibility, more stress? Especially when I dont plan on being a Career employee. Work is a partnership, I produce for my job and they give me what I need to invest and have capital for other ventures, and also provide training free or at least will help cover cost for skills I can use to help my company and for my own personal benefit. I will say never get comfortable in a role either because at the end of the day no matter how cool your job is, if they need to save money you can be let go. I always say every 2 yrs at a job examine where you currently stand and then if you are likely to be promoted and or stability of your situation. Especially as Black people in America, you are a damn fool working hard in a system that is literally meant to destroy you, you have to adapt and out smart the system because at the end of the day it is set up for you to fail.

remins me at my old job this filipino guy was there for 15 years never took a sick day, always stayed late, worked hard and they escorted him out when they let him go

The 2 stupidest sayings ever are "no pain no gain" & "hard work pays off"

Never believe those bullshyt myths

The most important things in life is Working Smart and being Consistent. If you work smart and do it in a consistent manner you set your self up to minimize any occurrences that may bring pain or stress and even when those inevitable things come you will be prepared to deal with em where it doesn't mess up what you have going on. Like seriously who the hell wants to be a hard working 40 yr old?

Society has jacked us up where we use our 20s, the years where we can afford to sacrifice and live below our means and stack/build to trick off dikk around, then folks hit 30 and now have to work hard because they didnt build a damn think in their 20s when they could afford to be flexible.

When you work smart the older you get the easier work becomes because you should be entering roles where you delegate "hard work" to other people.

you have people who have been at jobs for 30 yrs and are still in low/mid level roles. Im like after 10 yrs if you aren't a manager YOU BETTER have side businesses/investments where you have other sources of income, and you are just at your job for the benefits/extra income. When you are at a company for a while and dont show any growth, dont matter who smart you are you become a liability. You have people who brag about have a good job but aren't managers then look sick when the company fires them and their 150k salary frees up the budge for the company to hire 2 younger people pay em 60k (because young people will work for less) now the company is saving 30k and twice the productivity.

I remember in Middle and HS kids would brag about being in AP or Gifted classes, I was like eff that, I stayed in regular classes never studied or did home work and made all As and Bs with little effort, took my behind to a state school for college instead of some prestigious expensive school and went to college pretty much free and it was easy, and finessed my way in to the IT industry. Like I said work smart not hard, killing yourself working aint gonna put food on the table for your fam, being smart will.

Yup, I never understood when I was in HS and college why kids my age were busting their asses, super stressed out, and literally traumatized to the point where they can't even smile or dance in a party. I was like :dahell: from then and always raised my GPA by doing less work and only learning what can actually be implied. Me literally dying to get good grades was never for me. Many people who took all them advanced AP classes for the hell of it are not as financially free as promised by the lying ass teachers. They still paying back loans and the like.

I apply the same mentality for work. Working smarter means less stress and happier outlook.

Sorry dawg this "work smart not hard" mantra is some smart dumb nikka shyt, atleast in the examples you're using. You have to work smart and hard. Anything worth accomplishing in life requires hard work.

This.......
work smart still applies when it comes to innovation that simplifies work processes.

Ie....chain saws replacing axes gasoline engines replacing horses (not saying people don't use axes or horses....)

But that motto or cliche is used while YOU ARE WORKING.......if you got to move a 1000 boxes, then work smart.....ie use a fork lift or a dolly or something to not WORK HARD LOL. It takes smarts and hard work to make it to wherever you want to be..

http://mobile.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/working_hard.html

Some people hustle harder than others, nothing you can do about it but get on yo job and keep your book smart, street smarts and common sense in line with WORKING HARD.....
Even if you want to lose weight, save Money or whatever your dreams or goals are.....it takes both......

Or maybe.....

Yup, I went into College and majored in something I loved, so I literally NEVER studied and graduated with honors. When I knew I was going to have a hard class, I would just take a BS class like Art along with it, so I get an A in Art and a C in the hard class and that evens out to being two Bs (3.0). I would make sure my friends or people I knew took classes a semester before me or earlier in the day, so I can get all the answers for test and stuff like that too. Thats why I have a hard time giving people advice on over coming Losses, cause I been winning since forever :blessed:. But on the real I grew up broke as hell, so I made a promise to myself I would never let myself get to a state that low and I did and do what ever it takes to prevent that happening to me and to my future family, I saw my mom work hard and get sh*tted on by the work force, and I didnt want to see that happen to me.

This working hard vs. working smart thing is misguided. Yes you have to work smart but ive never met a business owner who doesn't work hard to maintain a certain level of success. Sure you have more freedom and whatnot but you also have more responsibilities, a lot of clients and accounts and not to mention if you have employees. Working smart shouldn't mean you dont work hard also
