Has Bernie built a big enough coalition to form a viable 3rd party?

I kinda agree but am hoping against hope that's not the case. Also, what do we think rock bottom looks like? I mean Trump is currently president. lol
America hasn't begun to scratch the barrel for rock bottom. Most presidents devote the first term to the people and the second term to themselves. The level of destruction Trump will wreak in a second term would be unprecedented.

Also, a third party doesn't have to win just have a good showing 15% + of the vote and Dems will come to them willing to negotiate for their votes. Right now they are either out right shytting on the agenda or at best paying lip service with no intention to fight for it.

A 3rd party of Bernie followers taking 15% of the voters would be a guarantee L for the Dems in any election:picard:

Besides, I think moderate Dems probably feel they have more in common with moderate Republicans than they do with Bernie who they consider far left. They are more likely to compromise with them than they do Bernie.

My forecast is that 3rd party = Sanders going the way of Jill Stein.

Possible Dem spoiler but irrelevant nationally.

Practical people want their votes to count for something. Beyond die hard devotees you would have a hard time branching off and being a force.

Unless something happens that absolutely cripples the Democratic party and somehow Sanders can fill that vacuum, but that would require a perfect set of circumstances.

The ability to make you lose if you don't stand for the people is POWER.

If we had stopped falling in line 40 years ago Bernie might not have had to spend them complaining and forewarning us about the shyt we are in now. We could have kept this level of capatilisic failure from reaching level Trump this soon if ever if we could stop being so p*ssy.

I said this back when Bernie first got beat in SC.

Bernie can start the 3rd party but only on the local level in heavily red states and districts.

Give up on the presidency for this Socialist party until 2030s when they have built a strong enough record in Republican states to render the GOP vulnerable to never attaining majority office.

Or you would have forced the democratic party further right in an effort to attract voters it lost to the method you suggest.
So you would be standing for the right things and the right policies, but your voice would be irrelevant.

Anyway. I am honestly not trying to troll or go after you, just showing that there is more than one outcome to a specific action.

Gotta think past more than one election.
And that would be a real mask off situation and confirm to every Progressive and non-voter the Establishment of both parties have been in cahoots to keep other parties and ideas out. And then we would be back to a two party system Republicans and whatever the third party is and that third party will be speaking better to the will of the people. I think Progressives would welcome that outcome.

Not sober enough to intellectually put my thoughts together at the moment, but the biggest obstacle right now is the lack of a true progressive voice/leader to officially form a progressive "party". We have AOC but she's not appealing enough to rally left leaning moderates
