For some reason I was thinking about exactly this topic earlier today :ohhh::dwillhuh:.

Most comic artists/character designers are white, and they think all black people look the same:manny:. That’s personally why I think that’s why there aren’t any lightskinned heroes.
Like how every 90s black character was the same breh at different stages of life :russ:

The Archer from The Boys. I like how the coli can never agree on what light skin means. Light skin means Steph Curry.

Ok but most of us live in the US and we’re talking about American comic book characters. We have to play by those rules everyday so it’s irrelevant whether race is a social construct or not. I agree with u btw.
race is still social, black for the longest meant black american(still is), beforehand "afro" ricans have been signing themselves as white. Jamaicans didnt even check off black and put down "other"(Kamala's father)
Black is synonymous with black american identity.

so race even in America? is still social and for the longest was. Only recently now is everyone who looks like us, or has some afro blood in them. now want to jump on the black/ADOS identity for whatever reason that may be(most selfish, and self benefiting)

There is more light skin (not mixed) black characters in Bleach than all 60+ years of american comics...sad.
