Lots of people are screwing themselves, nonblack women might be quicker to trap a guy into marriage and joint ownership of the debt. Nonblack women with useless degrees still have decent job prospects. I knew lots of communication majors that somehow got six figure consulting jobs right out of college.

Our parents' generation told us the way to achieve the american dream is to get a degree, any ol' degree, but didn't give guidance on how to go about it like student loan forgiveness programs, doing 2 yrs at a community college then xfer to a 4yr to eliminate some debt, look into trades where skills are always in demand and there's no shortage of jobs. I personally got a job where they have tuition reimbursement and also full waivers if you've been there for a number of years, so I got my masters for free. A lot of ppl dont think abt these options or even know about them

A student loan is like a business loan.

The business = yourself

Since you're gonna be selling yourself to corporations.

If you decide to take that loan and invest in some bullshyt instead of something profitable... You deserve to be struggling.

I only have sympathy for those that have a valuable degree but still arent having the success they should be having.

This is coming from a context that you have people around you who understand business or money or the educational apparatus itself. The vast majority of Americans black or otherwise DON'T.

Extrapolate that by families that have no wealth, no college savings, no or bad credit...etc.

To have this kind of stance is to not acknowledge the systemic problems that made the student loan practices predatory in the first place. Not to mention, if everyone DID go into STEM or those fields that are "profitable" they would become over-saturated (which stuff like software engineering already is), and the situation would be virtually the same.

The issue isn't truly the people who took them out...the larger issue is the fact that wages haven't increased with increased profits, and the loans preyed upon people who they KNEW had no context for what was actually being done....NO amount of education changes that fact.

If wages increased with the rest of industry and the gap didn't increase as it has then you don't have this situation...because people would have more money to pay back loans.

When I was in school the "black major" was communications
Meaning most the African American I met were communications majors for whatever reason. CS or MIS was typically Africans and an odd black dude like me (most AA dudes in CS were from NYC at my school for some reason, only like 4 of us in the whole department but still )
My wife actually has a communications degree but her pops paid cash, lord willing she was able to finesse her way into a consulting job and still pulls close to 6 figures

I moved out a couple weeks later.

My folks wont allow you to live on their dime if youre not going to school.

To me there has to be some sort of checks on these colleges/loaning process where if your not in a field that can likely pay back the loans you can't qualify for this. Yea, people can say they have no sympathy for her or whatever but this almost criminal to have that much loans and no prospect to pay it back. This is sick and I do have sympathy for her this is not right.

Reminds me of that retarded woman Belle Knox who paid almost full price to go to Duke (turning down state school full-rides), and then claimed she had to do porn to survive.

In the video the chick said she only used it to pay tuition. Yearly tuition at the “high end” schools are usually around 30-40k....

Of course even if she’s not paying sticker price (god I hope she didn’t), you defer those loans a few times and the capitalized interest will be sure to fukk you over.

If you aren't majoring in engineering, computer science, biochem/med, or healthcare...you REALLY need to think about if it is worth it...and if you majoring in those...it still MIGHT NOT BE WORTH IT...

My degree is worth it so far...although I still need the certification to make it fully worthwhile....
