As a Business Administration major (Concentration in Finance & Data Science), not everyone is built for the STEM or trade school life. I was originally an Engineering major, had a GPA over 3.0, and was on track to graduate on time, then my school didn't offer enough classes to match the demand, I hated everyone in the major, and realized that it wasn't for me.

People need to stop judging people's major decisions. It's their life, they can fukk it up however they like :russ: let them be art majors. Why try and force nikkas to do shyt that they don't wanna do? They're just gonna half-ass it (if they can even do it), and I don't want an engineer half-ass'ing any job, because I could be in the faulty ass building they help make :hhh:

Y'all can't always blame the students, because these college deans and other higher ups are just as bad. They don't offer enough classes, hire incompetent teachers who can't teach, and barely offer enough financial aid for people to stick around. Don't even get me started about housing.

But if I had to offer any kids some advice, I'd just say to attend community college and dabble in things just to get your general education out the way. That way you save money and time bullshytting, then transfer to a big university and finish your degree. You get to be with your family for 2-3 more years, then you can get the college experience for 2 more, best of both worlds. Hell, people could even learn a trade or two at a CC while prepping to transfer.
As a Black person, there are some fields you avoid heavy and anything business is completely on that list. Doesn't matter if it's marketing, economics, etc. Run. As a Black person, the job market is about skills but doubly for Black folks. You better be in one of those bank programs if you want to eat in this shyt.

Ya know I see a lot of people trying to push others into these jobs

Lemme tell you... its not all its cracked up to be.

Round 45 they start laying you off unless your in a union. Least when in a union they find you other jobs. Non union you just fired. Old guys make more tho... so Your the first to go. Everytime.

Round 40 you start breaking down. Lets see if you can make it to being laid off year round.

My grandpop died at 40 from his “high paying” trade job. Got cancer from the chemicals they had him spraying. Never met him. Just another insurance payout to them.

My pops had to retire at 40 cuz he ruined his body.

For that reason he never got me a card. if he didnt get to retire from injury would have ten years left of work and wouldnt be able to do it.

And hes the lucky one because of his union. But even that didnt work out the way it was supposed to. They cut his money for ten years until his case was settled. He was sposed to get ten years in back money... woulda been his REAL retirement...

The judge denied him all the money. Not even a cent. Said he “didnt deserve” all that money in one lump sum.... Made the company pay an extra ten years on the backend...

Sadly we all know he will never live long enough to see that money and the second he dies its not like its going to my mother. They cut it off right then and there when he shoulda got it in a lump sum already.

Thats the best you can expect from a union trade job. Figut for a full retirement that you worked for and just like in business theyll wait it out til ya dead... So many guys i hear him talk to gotta FIGHT for their earned benefits. Insurance costs went up like 300% the past 10 years. And he had to let the company/insurance doctors slice him up a few times to get what he got. Not that they worked...

The most depressing is the stat i read in his union paper he gets every month. The number is crazy its like 75% of retirees die within 5 years of retirement.

So take these articles with a grain of salt.

If i could pick, my boys a union dock worker. He dont do shyt. Says its wonderful. Electricians got it pretty good depending on the job. My dad says IBEW stans for “I Believe in Easy Work” ... lol. But yea man... everytime i start to hate my office job i remember i dont have to work in 0 degree cold.
