As a Black person, there are some fields you avoid heavy and anything business is completely on that list. Doesn't matter if it's marketing, economics, etc. Run. As a Black person, the job market is about skills but doubly for Black folks. You better be in one of those bank programs if you want to eat in this shyt.As a Business Administration major (Concentration in Finance & Data Science), not everyone is built for the STEM or trade school life. I was originally an Engineering major, had a GPA over 3.0, and was on track to graduate on time, then my school didn't offer enough classes to match the demand, I hated everyone in the major, and realized that it wasn't for me.
People need to stop judging people's major decisions. It's their life, they can fukk it up however they likelet them be art majors. Why try and force nikkas to do shyt that they don't wanna do? They're just gonna half-ass it (if they can even do it), and I don't want an engineer half-ass'ing any job, because I could be in the faulty ass building they help make
Y'all can't always blame the students, because these college deans and other higher ups are just as bad. They don't offer enough classes, hire incompetent teachers who can't teach, and barely offer enough financial aid for people to stick around. Don't even get me started about housing.
But if I had to offer any kids some advice, I'd just say to attend community college and dabble in things just to get your general education out the way. That way you save money and time bullshytting, then transfer to a big university and finish your degree. You get to be with your family for 2-3 more years, then you can get the college experience for 2 more, best of both worlds. Hell, people could even learn a trade or two at a CC while prepping to transfer.
I got a four year. Grad, got into banking, shyt was wack, went back and IT trade is literally the best decision for me. I always been good at computers but I was hard headed. My Trade school had IT, that's what I did. Best decision of my life tbh.
