im really sorry i slept on born sinner. its a solid 4.25 mic album to me. i can understand why people say Cole is boring or mediocre. he doesn't have a great voice, or great inflections, flows etc, but the song writing is top notch to me. i really vibed out on at least songs on here. decent lyricist. i think what can really make him elite is to step his lyrics up or complicate them. he should probably read some david foster wallace or nobokov cause his voice aint gonna improve. he should also listen to old juve etc to work on unorthodux flows. but right now the base is there.
Wale easily bigger than rocky. The blogs love rocky and hate Wale so it would seem rocky is bigger. Wale's album was better and features carried Rockys. Cole is huge. He's definitely got the 18-24 college crowd on lock. He's relatable to young adults, but stays very lowkey.
I think people underestimate Cole. Kendrick is bigger even though he's not that charismatic either, however he's got that aggressive edge that gets people talking.
I think 5-7 years down the line, Cole and Kendrick will be one of the few out of this class who are still hanging around -- if only because they have been successful in carving out a core fan base that has shown to support

Cole seems to have no interests outside of appealing to his specific fanbase, which is why he's stuck. Two albums that sold pretty damn well, but I see no signs that he can make a truly huge album that goes plat and "matters" like Take Care or GKMC.
He releases an album, tours a bit, then disappears. That's not how you build. He's also extremely arrogant and doesn't want to get outside production or noteworthy guest spots.

It took wale 8 months to go gold (edit July 2012) it's been over a year for Rocky and still no plaque. There's a clear difference in the type of blog coverage wale gets compared to Rocly. I'm not bout to set myself up and read a complex article on Wale

Wales subject matter and topic range is much better and wider than rockys and his albums are more cohesive.
