What metric other than K. Total Album sales for his 1st album? This isn't even true. Kendrick is more successful by almost every metric.

The idea that Cole being introverted is why he isn't as big as Kendrick is false. Kendrick isn't out there everyday either and isn't that charismatic, but people vibe with him. Cole's problem is that his albums always lack the second single like how Kendrick had Poetic Justice with Drake. Otherwise, I see no reason why one guy is platinum and the other isn't. The thing about Cole is that he has the Jay-Z thing about him in that he doesn't do too many features so that he's not oversaturated. I'm pretty sure he got that from Jay, but there's no reason Cole shouldn't be on some of these records.
That's surprising. I didn't realize it had that much success. He promoted that poorly though. Should have had TLC in the video.Cole had a second single this time though. Crooked smile did pretty well. It sold gold and peaked at 27 on the Hot 100, that's technically a hit (top 40)
This thread is not about lyrics.C'mon.. Kendrick would eat Cole lyrically. And I don't even like Kendrick like that at all but it's true.

Yeah I feel similarly. I thought he should have done a remix, on some we are the world shyt and had a couple different singers/rappers on it. The nature of the song was on some "you're beautiful too" but the roll out in my opinion didn't really fit that. I didn't even know TLC wasn't in the video, I don't even remember the video much tbh. That's surprising. I didn't realize it had that much success. He promoted that poorly though. Should have had TLC in the video.
This is types of Bullshyt.Cole seems to have no interests outside of appealing to his specific fanbase, which is why he's stuck. Two albums that sold pretty damn well, but I see no signs that he can make a truly huge album that goes plat and "matters" like Take Care or GKMC.
He releases an album, tours a bit, then disappears. That's not how you build. He's also extremely arrogant and doesn't want to get outside production or noteworthy guest spots.
Within the constraints of the argument in this thread. You asked which other metric.
Earl is at the center of rap culture?its hard to know where to place dude in the pantheaon of rap stars of this era. he sold 660,000 of Sideline Story, and 631,000 of Born Sinner. i can't think of many rappers doing those numbers and yet, dude still feels sidelined to me. is that a mistake on my part or what? what do u reckon.
shouldnt he be bigger than Ross, Meek Millz, Asap Rocky, Earl. his numbers are better but he doesnt seem at the centre of culture like these cats for better or worse.

This is types of Bullshyt.
Who can make an album like that Besides Drake?
He had Jay and Drake on his Debut.
Him Producing his own music is sound business move and is not hindering his success at all.

How has that affected his success as a rap artist?
