His records sell. His songs are on the radio. I guess all of that could be bought, but assuming its somewhat legit - he's gotta be 3rd behind Drake and Kendrick in terms of who's been hot the past couple years.
:laff: J cole has never been hot. He has a loyal fan base that buys his records, but he isn't drawing new fans or generating any buzz. Jay Electronica, who's on the same label and has an unreleased album that has been in limbo for years, is hotter than J Cole. Because of his association to jay z, J cole gets more attention than he deserves, which gives people an impression that he's a superstar rapper.

The H
Wayne, Drake, Jay, Ye, Kendrick, then probably Cole. Dude in that elite tier. (Fame wise)

What metric other than K. Total Album sales for his 1st album?

As of now, Kendrick gets more press, better billing placements on festival lineups, has more ticket sales, and (I say this with caution because it's subjective) hype.

Cole has him with single sales (arguably because he has two albums under his belt) and internet following (twitter in particular, by 1.5million), even though K Dot is catching up.

Has Kendrick Headlined his own Tour?

Cole Has.

I need Proof on the ticket sales and everyone gets booked on festivals its not like Kendrick is headlining.

Right now he's 3rd (altho I think A$AP Rocky could have a case over him ). But I don't see how you could put him over Drake or Kendrick without sounding super Biased.

Wale's got better music, more original, more passionate etc etc

Rocky's okay but he swagger jacks the south and his album was carried by features
It's subjective, I don't see how Wale has better music. Live.Love. A$AP is comfortably better than anything Wale's ever done, Long.Live A$AP is better than The Gifted as well. Rocky has two projects one of which is critically acclaimed, and his debut almost is on the cusp of being certified Gold and was well received. I don't see how his album was carried by features, F*cking Problems and 1-Train were the big posse cuts and he had one of the best verses on there.

Like you said, it's all subjective but I like The Gifted waaaay more than Live.Love. A$AP. You think Long.Live A$AP is critically acclaimed? We lowered the standards that much? Both the joints were his most popular joints on the album and he failed in comparison to his peers on both tracks. Wale has his own sound. A$AP from NY and NY don't even claim dude, they know he sounds like a southern artist. Not saying he's wack...he's aiiiight. But I think Wale has more to offer and its not close..

Problems, yes.. but 1 train definitely wasn't lol

that shytty ass dubstep song went gold and the title track Long.Live at least hit the billboard charts, outside r&b and rap.

No song on that album was more talked about on the internet

wasn't even the best song on the album :rudy:

and that's besides the point, what you said was incorrect regardless of who talked about what on the internet:heh:

it wasnt the 2nd most popular song off the album. maybe the second most liked? but not the most popular.

Long.Live the album no, the mixtape Live.Love critically acclaimed and deservingly so and to me definitely better than anything Wale's ever done. I think he had a great verse on 1-Train, K.R.I.T. just went ham.

NYC do claim A$AP, the younger generation fukks with A$AP heavy.
