How did NWA get a movie before Wu-tang?

Because NWA is far bigger and the stars of the group are infinitely bigger. Like this isn't even worth debating.
The the least popular dude in the group Mc Ren even went platinum as a solo artists (deserving so as he was fire) but that's just an example.
Dre, Cube and Eazy are unarguably all top 10 biggest names in rap history.

You do know good movies featuring little known celebrities/musicians are made all the time right? I don't see where this "bigger" sh!t is coming from. Like that's a prerequisite for a good movie. And cats in here acting like Wu-tang are the Bush Babees
And don't get me wrong...I definitely feel NWA should have had a movie WAAAAAY before Wu-Tang but let's not try to run with this silly narrative that Wu aren't compelling enough for a movie treatment.

I think a Wu movie would be much better, but the question from the OP was why was NWA movie made before Wu and it's pretty simply why, they had 3 members in the group who are some of the top 10 biggest name ever in rap music. I'm not saying a Wu movie doesn't deserve to be made, it does but it's obvious why NWA was made first.
To me it's like asking why someone would make a Jay movie before a Nas movie, for the same reasons, even tho I think like this, a Nas movie would be better, the Jay one makes much more sense financially and mainstream wise

- One of their most prominent members, Ghostface, had a well known former Italian mafia henchman, Michael Caruso, as his manager for years. Google him. He himself could make a dope movie. Ghost also used to be styled by one of the Mob wives.
- Power, one of the 3 individuals considered the Wu heirarchy, is one of the most mysterious street individuals in hip hop history.
- 7 out of the 9 original members are felons. Facts. These dudes aren't make believe street n!ggas. You wouldn't have to fabricate stories of them beating n!ggas up, robbing n!ggas, having shoot outs, selling drugs. These n!ggas actually did it.
- Their large list of affiliates consist of a bunch of wild dudes...a cat that shot a n!gga for resting on his whip, a n!gga who ran over a dude and killed him while he was dusted, and a n!gga who's still currently in jail because feds say he assaulted a woman in his Harlem home.
