The problem with the 2nd amendment is that it wasn't made to last a lifetime, but for that specific period, in other words, the amendment is dated and by today's standards needs serious modifications to represent the current era/society we live in today.
The 2nd amendment was created in 1791 (232 years ago). As we all know by now, America was very very different back in those days than it is now. One passage of the bill states “to organize, arm, and discipline the federal militia”...well we don't live in times like that anymore.
The logic and reason behind barring arms back then don't apply to today and that's what makes it not only dated but naive in context by today's standards. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if bills like this will ever be modified as they would be deemed too controversial, among other things. Many countries have modified their constitutions since they were originally written and implemented but America is stuck in its old ways and doesn't wanna let go.
