I feel like the women I have dated would view this as weak. First, because you would have what is perceived to be an unnecessary handicap. And then two, that you would want her to adjust herself because of your unnecessary handicap instead of you working on your own growth as a man.

The women that I've been with would not go for this at all because it would come off as beta.

I don’t see what I did as socially inept.
I’m not the guy that wants to talk to strangers.

Being an introvert is not a handicap, it just is what it is.
And dim her light? Nah if she on a date with me she needs to know boundaries.
She apologized for her behaviour & also I let her know that I probably went too far in my response & that ideally we should meet in between.
