The Amerikkkan Idol
The Amerikkkan Nightmare
It's not solely about being 'smart.'
Let's not pretend that kids didn't dumb themselves down as they got older. It wasn't 'cool' to like school. It wasn't 'cool' to be interested in learning. I got less interested in school as I got older. Back in the day everything else was more important than sitting down and trying to learn: sports, clowning, what kind of shoes you had, girls, etc.
This topic seems to depend on when you actually went to school. How many ya'll remember when video games (that weren't NBA/NFL) were seen as lame? How many of ya'll remember when anime (that wasn't DBZ) was seen as lame? This stuff just recently became popular in the mainstream (last 10 years). It wasn't always popular enough to be widely discussed in black schools. Back in the day you had to keep some of your interests on the low because you'd get mocked for having them. You had people you hung with who knew what you were talking about but trying to be open about certain stuff would paint you as a lame. The same went for actual interest in school subjects beyond sports, band, etc.
Even the 'smart' folks (who didn't dumb themselves down) had to put on a front to pretend like they were 'cool'. And ya'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
I believe I started to notice this in the transition from middle to high school. Certain folks acting brand new, people you knew in middle school turning their nose up to you, being apart of a click, etc. Hell, anything else was more important than school work.
But is this unique to Black schools?
Like I said, watch "Saved By The Bell" or "Revenge or the Nerds" or any 1,000 White sitcoms and movies.
Are White/Asian nerds considered cool?
Of course not.
@The Amerikkkan Idol you hit me with a lot of emotion here, let me attempt to keep it fact based for you
1) John mcwhorter is openly critical of the culture of anti-intellectualism that as an educator, he felt hinders us in the classroom, thus hinders us in life - he wrote a follow up book called “WINNING THE RACE” << that’s something someone who hates black people would do?
2) I posted that video showcasing that Barack agrees that the “acting white” thing exists.
3) I posted that video to illustrate that Barack has been criticized openly as not “black enough” as it cost him an election - he knows a lot about this topic - with that said he was a lackluster president, did NOTHING for our people - see how one has nothing to do with the other?![]()
1. How would a guy like John McWhorter who's not a part of and has never been a part of our community know what the hell hinders us in the classroom or life?
That'd be like me writing a book on what the Latino community needs to do to improve their lives.
2. Who cares what a biracial dude raised in Hawaii & Indonesia thinks about Black people?
How the fukk would he know what it's like to grow up being Black.
3. Again, your argument is that he's not seen as "Black enough" because he's "smart". That's the the thread is a bout, nikka.
Bobby Rush is just as smart as he is and wayyyy Blacker, so what the real issue?
And yes, Obama being a lackluster president has EVERYTHING to do with him being a White puppet ass c00n who knows nothing about the Black community. That's why he thought he could just show up and sing Al Green and make everything gravy.
Really...
So what are you saying he is not Black enough?
Now you just done shoot yourself in the mouth
The phenomena known as "acting white" is more predominant in schools that are mixed with white and black students.
Wake up your experience does not equate to every one else experience
Who said every Black person lived in the hood?
What if you not from the hood you not Black?
They are both talking about African American experience. in this case they are address the "acting white" development in certain segments of the black community.
We all do not experience the same things in the same exact details....we are not monolithic society
.
Yes, being the only Black person in your community makes you incapable of being Black enough for this discussion. NEXT.
Obama & McWhorter are the epitome of dudes who are not Black enough.
Black don't mean "hood". It does mean having regular contact with other Black people though.
nikka did you just try to justify the fact that I was getting shanked in middle school? Based on clothes or shoes.
If I could reach through the screen I would slap you like the bytch you are.
I saw a young black boy get shanked in middle school and almost lose a kidney. There is no justification for the shyt.
nikka, you aint gonna do shyt, but get shot, with yo bytch ass.

I seriously think there are 2 types of people that post on here
- people that post as themselves, as in people who would say the same things offline that they would on here
- dudes who are in character...playing a "role" or whatever, pretending to live another life altogether completely different from the one they lead in real life
that's the only way I can explain all the bullshyt in this thread...I mean look:
there are thousands of these on youtube...but according to these dudes, it's all a myth![]()
All of those people are corny and lame as fukk.
You're not making yourself look good here.
Them: They don't like me because I'm smart.
The rest of the world: We don't like you because you're socially awkward, weird, act like you got aspergers, and are ugly as fukk.
