why do I know their ages? Google you dumbassWhy do you know their ages, though?
Like, what does that matter?
And why does it matter? Because in no other context would a 43 year old woman really give a fukk about music 20 year olds are making.

"The essence" isn't even a thing. Its some fantasy shyt ya'll didn't appreciate when you had it and its not coming back. Music evolves. Can we really say this if it hasn't returned to The Essence?
You have some that would say that Hip-Hop is supposed to be linear, not be "circular"...

Sure, why not? They both got their starts off of someone else giving them a shot and they are ambassadors of the city.
Another huge reason why NY radio specifically fell off... they stopped catering to dudes. Their playlist is dental hygenist music. They lost a whole generation of nikkas off of that bullshyt, and cornballs like Peter Rosenberg and Ebro can't get it back. Breakfast Club is cool but why sit through Power 105.1's awful playlist when I can just watch the interviews online
NY radio has to get back to championing NY music..... but established NY artists have to put on for the next generation.... and NY rappers have to stand their ground and have their own sound instead of jumping on the South's dikk. No disrespect to the South. But the South didn't come up rapping like NY.
sports = physical activityFirst off, keep them names in your ass.
Second, how do you know what kind of music everyone listens to - especially if that's a part of their careers?
To say that is to say ESPN anchors don't enjoy sports because young people play them...
I'm trying to tell you.Breh you definitely onto something![]()

This is like bebop jazz musicians getting mad at folks using synthesizers in the 80s.
sports = physical activity
music = indicative of maturity, taste, and stage in life.
Not the same
I'm certain you don't know what I mean by "the essence", so you're better off being quiet about that.
And "evolves" carries the idea that something changes while maintaining its previous properties
(it's "essence"). So something can't truly "evolve" if it forsakes it's basic fundamentals makeup.
Uhhhhhhhhh yeah it is.That wasn't my point - my point was that no matter what age you are,
you can still enjoy something that is intended for the young...
...and for that matter, Hip-Hop is not latently intended for the young either...
You're playing with semantics here and I'm not the one for you to try and pull that tired "I'm an old head" game when it comes to rap/hip-hop. Thats a bullshyt elitist comment that holds NO weight with me.
I know all about this supposed "essence" you cornballs keep bragging about...and its not coming back. Just like the feeling of woodstock or listening to bytches brew on wax for the first time.
Move the fukk on.
Uhhhhhhhhh yeah it is.
A lot of new music and new talent CAN NOT EXIST with older representatives of hiphop. It just can't.
The sincerity will never be there otherwise.
Can Angie Martinez dance to a DJ Mustard song? Sure...but do you think she'll chose to hear it? Probably not. Listen to her once in a while. Shes really not even checking these artists shes "interviewing" out. Shes taking up space on prime radio time filling it with nothing more than her past history.
on one hand, I agree. We don't have that magnetic young personality out there who could take over and do his own thing on the radio. Part of it is because we fear change (obviously). The other part is that the NY media market is such a competitive one that other stations down South or wherever don't have the same pressure to maintain their ratings or their numbers or whatever.I'm trying to tell you.
If you go to cities like ATL or Miami or even LA...MOST of the serious talking heads/DJs are YOUNGER PEOPLE.
That shyt matters!
