Ye blows him away. Albums, production, musically. Ye has him beat. 5 albums in and he has yet to miss, with each one changing it up, pushing himself and rap forward each time. :

kanye pushed rap in a worse direction, espcecially with 808s and heartbreaks. what has he added to the rap game? all i see is soft kanye clones making soft music

now as a producer he WAS a genius, top 5 of all time. his run from like 1999-05 is :noah:. i havent ever been too impressed by "creative, different kanye" though

bring on the negs :ahh:

I see that now. What a revelation like the last chapter in the Bible. You see so many composers on Kanyes tracks you know hes just sitting in the studio like *ok yes, i like that, ok yes i like that too. ok yes. thats cool* but he tries to act like hes Stevie Wonder. Lets be more realistic. Kanye produces soundclick beats when hes just doing music by himself.

The only thing I find Kanye to be better than Jay-Z in is obviously producing, so I can't agree at all with the op. I don't agree one bit with cats saying Ye's 5 best albums being better than Hov's. If you feel that way, that's cool, but I feel like I'm in the twilight zone when reading that. Hov has universally accepted classics, while Ye has none (most are good to great though).

I also saw someone mention Ye's live show being better also, which I can respect, but as someone who has went to multiple shows of both, I prefer Hov's, as he doesn't need all the extra theatrics to have the audience eating out the palm of his hand, and that takes much more skill to me.

Why do you think jay did watch the throne?

I don't think nikkas realize how much kanye changed music.

Like most of these nikkas in the industry are trying to follow his blueprint.

Kanye is a better artist than jay

Jay is the better hip hop artist.

Co sign. Kanye was the first successful Hip Hop artist that didn't leech on the street life and was proud to be from the burbs. He even worn fitted clothes at a time where anything outside of baggy was homo. Wayne and he changed it from the outside in.

pretty much. i still take RD over any Kanye album, buts thats it and a personal bias. kanyes albums though are better than any other jay album. jay is basically a more credible soulja boy. he is a great singles artist, especially around the turn of the millennium. he also had a great debut. other than that what has jay done that is so great? kanye is in the tradition of ice cube etc, dude knows hw to put albums together.

you could easily nitpick spin that and say jay pushed it the wrong direction, he inspired a bunch of fake rap hustlers using it for business means, not as a form of art

they are both incredibly influential either way, just because they influence the type of music you don't like doesn't mean they have a negative influence

Reasonable Doubt shyts on MBDTF...

Kanye's overproduction and over the top layering of music really got yall sitting putting this album on a pedestal...RD is just as musically sound as MBDTF...just because it doesnt have extended instrumentals and wild features doesnt mean its not musically sound....the simplicity of the music on that album is part of what makes it great....like when is the last time you sat through the entire 'Runaway' song?...:upsetfavre:..album had very little impact on hip-hop...no hit records, shyt even a record featuring half the industry (All Of The Lights) failed to become a major hit...the reviews got yall gassed on this album

conceptually Reasonable Doubt shyts on MBDTF....MBDTF is just a collection of verses that sound conscious...not saying half of anything....like take a song like D'Evils...there isnt one song on MBDTF that can compare thematically...lyrically the compasrison is laughable

Jay-Z is as every much of an artist as Jay-Z

I mean I guess Jay could have hired Stevie Wonder to play the piano for a minute at the end of Dead Presidents and the whole "he's not an artist" perception would die...lol fukk outta here

I think your missing the point of what I'm saying.....

Yes Jay-z is the better rapper, clearly.... But what else does he have on Ye... When it comes to being ARTISTIC Kanye clearly has Jay beat in categories that Jay couldn't go into... It's not just that Kanye makes beats, I keep saying it's bigger than that... Kanye changed the way that rappers do live shows.. What is so artistic about getting on stage with a DJ and a mic and waking around... Kanye brought out all the extras from live orchestra's to fukking insane lighting.. Look at how involved Kanye has been with his cover art.. Actually put any Jay cover art up against Ye's and it's not even close... I can't believe I have to explain this to people.... There is so much more I could say, but it would be tiresome... We could go to Kanye's cohesive albums all the way to his videos

At the end of the day Kanye is the definition of an Artist....

BTW Kanye's live shows shyt on Jay's

cover art?....:mindblown:

so I guess Lil B is a better artist than Jay cause he is more involved with his cover art...

yall giving Kanye credit for whistles and bells...Jay was doing shows with live sets before Kanye even dropped his first album...:mindblown:

artist - A person who practices any of the various creative arts, such as a sculptor, novelist, poet, or filmmaker.

Jay-Z is every much as an artist as Kanye West...different artist go different ways about presenting their art...just because you prefer one artist's presentation of art more than another doesnt really mean shyt..its your preference, there are no absolutes in art

The thing is tho. MBDTF is not even Kanye's best album :smugbiden:

Artistically Jay's discog is that weak that you have to refer to his best album to even compare to Yeezy's last :usure: :manny:

In terms of musical relevance, Jay-Z owes Kanye HIS LIFE and he knows it

Sure, Jay cosgning Kanye was a great look, but I think Yeezy woulda been fine anyways because he had the whole artistic vision before he even signed with Rocafella

Musically, Jay-Z is Kanyes SON. In terms of success and accolades, Jay is clearly head-and-shoulders above Ye tho. As an MC, Jay is also leagues ahead of Kanye, but "Jay-Z The Artist" that we now know, is a spin-off of Kanye West
