If Aaliyah was still here, do you think she would be the best female artist in R&B/Pop right now?

You're contradicting yourself. If everybody is telling me she can't sing, how is anyone agreeing with me? And id you want to bring age into thos, how old are the people agreeing with you?

You cited drama as the reason why she took 4 years off, when in reality, Monica took a year off (2001 im which she still out a single out for a soundtrack). Furthermore, the C-Murder stuff had nothing to do with her hiatus. You're in here making excuses because as usual you don't know what you're talking about.

Drama is not the reason why it took five years for Monica to drop another album. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Monica started working on another album in 2000. She took 2001 off because she was dealing with her boyfriend committing suicide.

Where in that post does it state she took 5 years off to deal with the suicide of her boyfriend? She was still actively putting out music during the interim as previously stated, but of course you'd overlook that because it doesn't fit your narrative.

I think rihanna is a great example of where aaliyah would be musically if she was still alive because thats the lane shes in.
Also aaliyahs albums sold really slow but all ended up goin 4-5xplat. Her last one came out a month before she passed and was at gold so i believe with the sucess of rock the boat/more than a woman plus her upcoming movie at the time the red album woulda went 3xplat, i could see her "peaking" in 2006 if anything.

she has also mentioned the c-murder case, and other things as factors in her sabatical as well.

who the hell are you to say otherwise?

putting out a random soundtrack cut, isn't exactly active. the difference with Aaliyah is that she ran around promoting her soundtrack stuff.

The C-Murder case happened during the year she had off. I am not the one saying otherwisr. This stuff is public record. None of this affected her album being shelved. By the time it was slated to come out, she had a video, single, and another single ready to go until it leaked. She was also in an MTV movie during the time.

"Just Another Girl" wasn't a random soundtrack song. It was the single with a video. One of Aaliyah's songs was for a movie that Aaliyah was actually starring in. All artists with Soundtrack singles do promo.

1.) okay buddy. youre wasting my time.

2.) again, theres a difference between making rounds promoting a song/soundtrack, as opposed to simply shooting a video.

And again, the only promo rounds Aaliyah made for a soundtrack was for Romeo Must Die because she starred in the movie. Why wouldn't she make promo runs for it?

So you're telling me that it is cool for Monica and Brandy to have singles for soundtracks and it still be considered hiatus, but Aaliyah having soundtrack singles is her still being active? Aaliyah promoting a movie she was starring in os a knock against her as opposed to another artist having singles that promoted soundtracks and movies. Breh, you're biased. This is evident in every Aaliyah thread you post in. Just admit, you don't like her.

:dahell:how did AAliyah took a hiatus when she was still putting out music?????:dahell:

The same way Brandy and Monica took "hiatuses" even though they there were still putting out music. Secondly, I specifically stated "hiatuses from albums".

Aaliyah made promo rounds for that dr dolittle song too.

I don't know why youre trying to act like I'm knocking her for it. its a good strategic move. but you cant say she really took a hiatus as steep as brandy & monica.

and theres nothing to admit. I don't like Aaliyah, and its been that way since about a month after she died, and I never claimed otherwise. I simply hate revisionist history.

BUT that doesn't mean that I'm biased in any of my assertions. chit, I NEVER liked brandy, but the way this thread is going, youre probably under the assumption that I'm a fan.

knocking off 2 birds with 1 stone. heres a clip of her promoting the single in real-time, along with her singing horribly.

Aside from premiering the video and the typical stuff artists do for soundtrack singles, what promo runs did Aaliyah do that Monica and Brandy didn't?

Well, you are knocking her for it. You're saying she did promo runs like Brandy and Monica didn't do promo runs for their soundtrack singles. You're saying Aaliyah dropped singles yearly like Brandy and Monica didn't. You're saying Brandy and Monica took hiatuses, but Aaliyah didn't because she had soundtrack songs even though Brandy and Monica did too. That's bias and revisionist history.

Breh, if you stopped liking Aaliyah because of whatever unwarranted praise she received after death, how are you any different than an impressionable fan who became one after the fact. Like them, you formed an opinion of her based on the media and not her music. The difference is, you dislike her. Like them, you are revising history, but instead of exaggerating the praise, you're doing the opposite. Both are just as bad. Saying she's a bad songer is as bad as saying she was the second coming of Aretha Franklin. She was neither. There is a middle ground and if you have legendary vocalists like Whitney Houston saying they are fans of your voice, you can't be a bad singer. That was said while she was alive.

It doesn't really matter whether you like Brandy or not. A lot of people who don't like Brandy don't like Aaliyah either.

premiering the video, performing it at events, etc etc. brandy & monica didn't do that on their longer hiatuses.

like I said, I'm not knockin Aaliyah for it. just saying you cant compare. what don't you understand?

how the hell am I revising history?

what the hell was the purpose of your last comment?

you stupid.

Monica and Brandy premiered videos and performed soundtrack singles. They didn't have longer hiatuses. That much has already been proven. And there is a comparison becausw all three had soundtracks, promo runs for soundtrack singles, and movies between albums.

Revising history is you saying that Aaliyah did promo runs for soundtrack singles and not acknowledging that Brandy and Monica did too. You're also saying they took longer hiatuses between albums, which again, isn't true.

As for the last comment, you brought up not liking Brandy. I simply pointed out that a lot of people who don't like Brandy, don't like Aaliyah. Valid observation since you've admitted to not liking either of them. If anyone's proving their stupidity here, it's you. That's the only thing consistent about your posts aside from the revisionist history that you accuse others of writing like you are a cultural gate keeper.

what promo runs did brandy & monica do for soundtracks in the midst of their lengthier hiatuses? and I'm talking the hiatuses in between their 2nd & 3rd albums. let me be clear. and don't talk out ya ass and try to make chit up, like you often do on here - and don't pretend that I'm the only one that calls you out on that, you little worm you.

the bolded is a pointless observation. and I actually kinda liked Aaliyah when she was alive. I was no fan, but she was a cool lil novelty act. she wasn't as good or as big as brandy, but brandy was annoying, phoney & over-saturated.

I'm definitely a cultural gatekeeper on here. youre just mad that youre not, no matter how hard you try.
