If I had to go back with hindsight being 20/20. The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show was his greatest work. I'm in the minority with the opinion that The Eminem Show is better than MMLP. After 2003 his music hasn't been the same. From a technical aspect he's one of the greatest. But, this is about more than being technical. Does his music resonate with the people in 2017. Sadly that answer is no, and I actually liked his last 3 albums. Recovery got me through a dark period in my life. But, if we're being honest his peak was over a decade ago.

Em was at his peak. Mmlp was cool, but em show seem to be more serious. Anything after that was garbage to me.

I don't get how you can say he has skill but his discography is ass :jbhmm:

If his discography is ass then where did he display
:mjlol: at people saying he doesn't have classics lmao

He's got more classics then any rapper in the past 10 years combined.
Besides SSLP and MMLP what other classics does he have?

The Em show was decent and since then he has declined drastically.

So in reality he has 2 Classics that everyone can agree with, a few average albums that gets boosted because of his stans, and the rest is straight dumpster juice.

Tell me when was the last time you listend to an Em track? When was the last time you heard someone listen to Em? Now compare that to how many times you here Pac/Big for example.

Hell i havent even heard an Em song on the radio in YEARS, but ive heard Pac and Big Multiple times just this week.

Em doesn't even have 3 classics but if I gave you that I would say

Redman
Ice Cube
KRS One
Rakim
De La Soul
Tribe
Scarface
OutKast
Pac
DJ Quik
Nas
Jay-Z
The Roots
MF DOOM

Run The Jewels

And prob more have just as much claim to 3 classics as Em does with his first 3

Wait, what?

Yeah, the one major criticism I see here is that from a musical standpoint, Eminem isn't at the level of many other rappers. I maintain that his early beats when he was doing a couple songs on an album were dope. He wasn't Premier or Kanye-level, but he wasn't as awful as people make it seem. "The Way I Am," "Renegade," "'Til I Collapse," "Cleanin' Out My Closet," "Lose Yourself," "The Cross," "Mosh," "Like Toy Soldiers." Those were all good, and three of them ("'Til I Collapse," "Lose Yourself," "Like Toy Soldiers") are classic IMO. The problem is Eminem only knows one kind of sound as a producer, and if you're going to make dope beats, you have to have a big musical IQ. It got to the point where his beats sound one dimensional, and he comes off as the kind of person that really needs to be sat down and talked to about his music.

I don't know why he doesn't work with the Bass Brothers anymore, or get Dre to do more beats for him. Or consult any of these legendary producers to give him something.

Guilty Conscience was another good one from back in the day :wow:

Eminem had a good couple of years there at the start of his career but he's been :russell: aside from that for all of his career. And today he's totally washed up. So when people talk about him as one of the goats, that's a massive overrating
