I can accept the reasonable argument that Biggie would not have risen to the same level of stardom without Puff's vision and marketing muscle behind him, but to say Big wouldnt have remained unknown and died penniless or whatever is just the kind of obnoxious hate threads we've come to expect around here.

There's a reason why Puff was so eager to start his own label after hearing big --- he knew he had a once in a lifetime talent on his hands that he could mold and shape and build an empire off of, and Biggie was largely a finished and polished product when Puff met him. Why are we still waiting for Puff to create another star with the type of love, respect, admiration, and popularity of a Biggie smalls since the mans death?

All jokes aside, you really don't know. The point that I'm trying to get across is that Big had to have somebody make his songs, Pac made his own joints.

she was obviously, along with other people in that video/movie, trying to make it seem like he was a "better person" than he actually was . this is obvious. just like @Venem said, why do you think he'd go around telling his mom and others what he was doing? not to mention that it was stated several times that his mom barely even saw him during the days because of the jobs she was working so big would just ditch school everyday and do what he wanted with his homeboys. speaking of his homeboys, are we going to ignore the countless other people and his friends that have vouched for him and what he really did?

yeah but the point i was tryin' to make was that redman never got that cross over appeal. he got the respect among his peers and hip hop heads and the gold records (with the exception of doc's da name 2000 which went platinum) but he never really got that mainstream success

the redman comparison is telling because craig mack was basically a poor-man's redman.

yet, craig mack's run was arguably bigger than redman's peak.
