I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. Often times quick information leads to misinformation or incomplete information and people start going of the deep end before we have the full story

I'd rather get live feed from multiple sources so I can see how things unfold versus wait for it to be chopped and screwed then told after the fact.

This is about access. Did folks with landlines have access to videos of what was happening in a warring state or only what the newspaper told them?

How many times have we heard about tweets being fact checked?

There is something unsettling about messages made 'on the fly'. Deeply stupid comments that would have been discarded in a waste basket find their way to recipients by digital means which do not encourage 'second thoughts'.

Google probably already working on a replacement.

Let it collapse. The people behind it were only willing to sell because they realized that it wasn't making the kind of money it needed to make to keep running well and pay out big profits.

Musk will run it into the ground and someone else will either buy it or they'll just let it go the way of askjeeves and Netscape navigator.

You also forget there is Reddit. I also found out there was a coli subreddit (after it got banned) so I’m not even trying to hear that y’all don’t be on reddit

Sounds like you're talking about people making stupid opinions and you should just ignore that. I do it all the time here. Sometimes. Sometimes I got time.

It's a lot of people making platforms similar now if Twitter dies surely one of them will come out on top. Either that or Meta will create something.

Reddit's latest feed isn't as useful imo. Then again I don't use the app, only the desktop version.

Half the shyt that's going on in NYC, especially in my neighborhood, I would not know about without Twitter because these aren't things that are readily disseminated like that to the public unless you look for it
Damn breh.. Everything I know about in my neighborhood in Chicago comes from my alderman office, community meetings and talk radio.. Nobody is looking to link up with others in the community?

They tried it a few times, the last being Google+. It would be interesting to see what they could do this time around.

NYC is general is heavily divided, especially in terms of neighborhoods

Even within neighborhoods, there are subdivisions

A good example of this is in Brooklyn in particular. A lot of Brooklyn neighborhoods had sizable Black populations a few years ago. Over the course of my lifetime (38 years) I have steadily seen these neighborhoods decline in Black population and fall victim to gentrification.

Now these same white people moving into these neighborhoods are integrating their OWN groups and organizations, claiming they speak for the whole neighborhood, and meanwhile, the Black people in the neighborhood are like "Who the fukk are you???".

My neighborhood, Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, is an especially prominent example of this. Go ahead, and Google some of the local papers and or news sites.

They'll move in, live here for 5 maybe even 10 years and then SWEAR they're not gentrifiers or that they want to bring the neighborhood "together"

Meanwhile, these places always had local orgs, community groups, etc.

It's Christopher Columbus Syndrome but for the modern age. It's going on in Bed Stuy, Crown Heights, and Flatbush too.

And they know this, and they use their whiteness, and their money, and their power, to affect change for THEM

Meanwhile the Black people who may have been living there for 30...40...50 years are like....WTF??

And there are politicians (yes even Black ones!) that support this kind of thing too, because they know damn well they can't win elections without the colonizers, since just campaigning on what Black people SPECIFICALLY want is a non-starter.

It always has to be tied to some other shyt that we likely could give a flying fukk about

breh really misses the days when you was fukked if you missed that one right turn from mapquest directions you printed out :mjlol:

Smartphones are the accouterment of modern slaves. The only luxury left in Western cultures is privacy, no matter what Zurkerberg says about privacy not mattering any more. I do not want to be constantly in touch or for anyone to know where I am. Let’s hear it for solitude and privacy!

I think they can take the lessons they learned from that and do better this time around.

Most phones on earth are already running a Google owned operating system. It's nothing for them to just remix the twitter interface and have it installed in all Android devices.

Can you elaborate because while I understand Twitter isn't "real life" as its a virtual place, but real people use it...
i would put the % of human beings in the US that actually USE twitter at like 3% at best. let alone the rest of the world. i dont know anyone that actually uses twitter outside of links on forums like thecoli

id argue IG gets way more use than twitter in every aspect.
