I'm not even a Jay fan but I gotta say Nas stans are delusional AF

In a verzuz format Nas would get absolutely crushed.
Have you ever seen what happens to a room when U Don't Know or PSA comes on? I'm sorry but that shyt hits people on a whole other level than Nas shyt.

If you wanna talk Represent vs Heart of the City etc in a real hipophead discussion we can go on all day. But when it comes to a live DJ playing U Don't Know.. shyt is a fatality.

Have ya'll been watching the Verzuz battles have ya'll engaged in social media during said battles. If you don't think the audiences are super black then you bugging.

Agreed

This is also why the idea of Eminem with his predominatley strong army of non black fans who have fan accounts would RUUUUUUUUIN any versuz battle too, no disrespect to Em:mjlol:

Agreed but Ive also seen Made You Look and Hate Me Now get anthem like reaction so thats why it would be interesting to see them go at it.

I agree with you to an extent. If it was 10 songs Nas could get him. But 20 I don’t think is possible. Nas wouldn’t be able to counter one of those Jay singles with one of his classic album cuts becuz the singles always hit different in these things. Jay just has way more songs that can take people back to their club and party years and that was never Nas’ strength. Especially those prime Roc years when they ran the streets. Even when it comes to features. Yea we love Verbal Intercourse but in this format it’s not gonna see What We Do Is Wrong for example
If it ends up being about party/club records, Jay is definitely going to win.
I also think there would be wildly divergent takes on the battle. Verbal Intercourse vs. What We Do being a good example of that.
I just don’t see how anyone could pick What We do over VI, but I agree with you that there would be people who would see it that way.

What you fail to overstand is it’s not Jay’s “own game” - it’s THE game.

An artist in the music industry is primarily judged on their greatest hits.

The songs that are on the actual album Nas’ Greatest Hits are not necessarily Nas greatest songs.
There is a reason for that.
There’s more than one way to make a hit or sell records. One Mic was a hit and so was Can I Get A.

There is no voting on these battles. Have you watched any of them?

Yeah people dont seem to understand its really not even a battle anymore with these versuz battes nowadays, its just dudes playing some of their favorite cuts and talking about appreciating them now to each other. Im not even sure I see people on twitter declearing who won the last few ones (except Nelly v Luda)

I don’t think most people have they keep pushing the narrative to radio songs, even in Jays case What We Do, You Don’t Know, Love the Dough etc will get great receptions and are not radio songs, it’s not about that.

Most of them haven’t even followed vs they’re just talking out their ass, you got one dude saying Run This Town would generate a better buzz than Jhene Aiko who is literally the princess of Rnb right now, they’re very out of touch with reality, vs has been very much a cultural thing it hasn’t been for everybody.

Breh, I guarantee Nas ain't playing no Jhene Aiko feature in a battle against Jay Z and Jay Z ain't touching no "Run This Town" and even if they did play those joints, "Run This Town" would blow "10K Hours" out of the water. It isn't because "10K Hours" is wack, it's a nice song, but "Run This Town" is anthemic and it is a song that is still a crowd pleaser. "10K Hours" has absolutely no cultural impact.

Why does everyone presume that Nas in a Versuz battle against anyone would only be about pop hits?

Like sure him vs Jay wouldnt even be about Change Clothes vs Oochie Wally anyway, and if Jay was to pull that out in the middle of the battle when they're going back and forth with RD and IWW type joints it would fukk the flow up, just like if Nas was to pull that joint out it would fukk the flow up.

Either way, I get people thinking he might not win against Jay cause nobody can fukk with Hov's but to also act like Nas doesnt have a cataloge to compete in these versuz battles when his music has actually been featured in like 3 of these is kind of ridiclous. Also people said the same thing about other people who havent had hits in decades and still competed and they turned out fine.

Y'all act like we talking about Maino or some shyt, jesus.

This wouldn't be a wash either way, but people are actually in here listing songs that just came out or songs that neither artist would play and then trying to say we don't follow the battles. Do some of these posters not realize, it's 20 songs vs. 20 songs. Why on Google Earth Nas would Nas play a newly released Jhene Aiko feature out of his entire catalog against Jay Z? Why are people thinking "10K Hours" would actually beat "Run This Town" or even consider Jay playing that song.

Again, if a Nas vs. Jay Versuz happens, I guarantee nearly all of the songs from both artists will be songs from the 90's up until 2003. Their catalogs are big enough and versatile enough, that it would be easy to pick 20 songs from both artists from that period.

They probably not playing either song and going maybe 96-03 anyway in this hypothetical thing with a few mid 00s joints still.

That all said lot of these battles they been playing joints that didn thave any cultural impact, I cant figure out why Beenie Man needed to play his Guriella Black feature so you never know where the hell these clashes can go
