Hip hop is more than party music.
RZA vs. Premier wasn’t about which songs rocked the parties.
Jay and Nas doesn’t have to be that either. But if it does end up just being party records, Jay will win.
RZA and Premo played their most recognizable songs for the most part

Sure a song like Boom by Royce isn’t a top 40 hit but it’s memorable, recognizable boom bap record for that crowd it’s a hit

Ya tried it in the Pac thread

Ya tried it in the LL thread

Now y’all doing it with Jay

Nas isn’t fukking with certain nikkas in a Versuz format people don’t give a damn about those b-sides like that

Ya calling shyt like Empire State of Mind and Change Clothes wack when those would shake the room in a Versuz. Whether y’all like it or not a lot of people recognize and fukk with those records.

And Jay got enough b-sides and deep cuts and “real hip-hop” shyt to fukk with Nas it’s not just pop shyt. Nas super stans is the reason why he’s so pigeonholed in his career because y’all paint him as this anti-commercial real hip hop nikka.

Anyway Hov beats Nas. Once you get past the God’s Son era it’s not many records worth posting.

These dudes want Nas to be on Hov level so bad it’s sad. So instead of just appreciating Nas work. they feel inferior like it’s a indictment of them and shyt. They live in their own world. Dude posted ”made u look” was never released as a single :dahell:
It’s mind boggling to think a record label would not release a lead single for one it’s biggest artists. A plat artist at that :mjlol:

they live in their own fantasy world lol
but as much as they frustrate me. These dweebs are entertaining AF :mjlol:

totally depends on the crowd. The crowd for Primo vs RZA clearly knew album cuts or songs that weren't "hits". Check the reaction to Verbal Intercourse, Primo produced Jay Z songs as well as album cuts from Wu albums. That crowd could easily see Nas win as would get crazy reactions for album cuts from Nas that are considered classic.

Now if the crowd is more mainstream then yeh fully agree Jay wins but if the main audience hip hop heads then it's a fairly even battle.

Exactly. Change Clothes and Empire State Of Mind would shake the room, imagine his better classics. Jay would win based on numbers. There are just more Hov fans than Esco fans. He would win based on majority public opinion.

Why does everyone presume that Nas in a Versuz battle against anyone would only be about pop hits?

Like sure him vs Jay wouldnt even be about Change Clothes vs Oochie Wally anyway, and if Jay was to pull that out in the middle of the battle when they're going back and forth with RD and IWW type joints it would fukk the flow up, just like if Nas was to pull that joint out it would fukk the flow up.

Either way, I get people thinking he might not win against Jay cause nobody can fukk with Hov's but to also act like Nas doesnt have a cataloge to compete in these versuz battles when his music has actually been featured in like 3 of these is kind of ridiclous. Also people said the same thing about other people who havent had hits in decades and still competed and they turned out fine.

Y'all act like we talking about Maino or some shyt, jesus.

Most of them haven’t even followed vs they’re just talking out their ass, you got one dude saying Run This Town would generate a better buzz than Jhene Aiko who is literally the princess of Rnb right now, they’re very out of touch with reality, vs has been very much a cultural thing it hasn’t been for everybody.

Yes and their most memorable songs both included multiple Nas songs, Nas ain’t Royce, Nas and Biggie were the wildcards in these battles.
