hits aint winning against Nasir brehs

Nas Is Like > Big Pimpin'

N.Y. State of Mind Pt. II > Hard Knock Life

2nd Childhood > Song Cry

Made You Look > 99 Problems

No disrespect but this is pure stan shyt. These battles have been going on for months yet you still don't get that the amount of hits dictates who wins more often than not...especially in the rapper v rapper battles? Hov probably has 2-3 times as many hit records as Nas, if not more. NYSOMII, a (dope) song that no one outside of Nas fans cares about, is going to beat HARD KNOCK LIFE? Stop it fam. This is a mainstream battle that trends on twitter and gets hundreds of thousands of views...it's not a bunch of "real hip hop heads" sitting in their dark rooms keeping score and getting mad when Hov plays Run This Town instead of Only A Customer.

I feel like some of y'all don't respect how deep and extensive Jay's catalog actually is. I'm not saying he would win, I just think it all depends on the song choices and who goes first
I think people make the mistake of thinking of bubblegum pop records when we say hits. As much as I am a Nas fan over Jay I have to admit that Jay has more hits that resonated within the black community. That’s not a slight on Nas at all tho

It actually doesn’t, the amount of Bilboard charting songs doesn’t dictate who wins, unless both rappers are strictly known in that field.

It depends on the artists, Jill Scott and Badus Versuz was full of real hip hop heads.

I thought Nelly had bigger hits but Luda had a deeper catalogue of hits.
True. But even Nelly’s monster hits (Hot in Here) we’re losing to Luda’s lesser hits (Move bytch). It’s not all about which song charted higher.
Shook Ones Pt 2 didn’t chart high at all, but it would beat 99.9% of songs that did.
which is why NY State of Mind, which wasn’t even a single, would beat Hard Knock Life.

That isn't why "NY State of Mind" would win though. Many have "NY State of Mind" as Nas's best song. It is an essential song in his catalog. Although, it wasn't a single, that song has a platinum plaque as a standalone. "Hard Knock Life" is an essential Jay song and is quite similar to "NY State of Mind". That match up could either way.

Luda had more hit records than Nelly. You can look it up, it's easily verifiable...

NYSOM isn't beating Hard Knock Life in a battle that hundreds of thousands of casual pop rap fans watch. Lets be real.

I would change a few of these, but this is a good list. I would definitely play Live at the BBQ, Eye For An Eye, Verbal Intercourse.

Last record I’d play is Renegade :troll:

I love how Naz stans bring up where was Jay in 94 or 96. Since 98 Jay has not only lapped nas by 2000. After 2000 Hov started running backwards and lapped him again. Took a break and lapped him again.

Nas is not on Jay Z level. Stop this shyt.

damn I wish jay never dissed dude. Because forums would be a whole lot better

Jay him self wishes he never dissed Nas.

Please go ahead use all of Jay's mainstream singles. Use Blue Magic and Show Me What You Got and Change Clothes and Go and I Know and Change the Game and Girlz Best Friends and Guilty Until Proven Innocent ft R. Kelly ( :mjlol:) and Family Feud (:mjlol::mjlol:) and Magna Carta Whisper Flow ft Justin Timberlake (:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:). USE ALL THEM shytS.

:mjlol:Run this town with Rihanna &Kanye west
:lolbron:Ape shyt with Beyoncé & amigos
:russ:Lost with Coldplay
:mjlol:Tom Ford
:bryan:Young Forever with Mr. Hudson

These dummies bringing up hits like these Jay records going to move people in a hip hop platform. This ain’t for casuals. This will be for the heads. None of that weak pop shyt jay get a pass for is going to work.

I’m not a fan of some of Hov’s most commercial songs but you’re lying if you think some of those wouldn’t go off in a versuz setting, Empire State of mind is his biggest cross over hit as played out as it is. It would get a good reaction.

This song wouldn’t crack a top 50 best of Jay song list. It’s an Alicia Keys track above all else.
