RZA and Premo played their most recognizable songs for the most part

Sure a song like Boom by Royce isn’t a top 40 hit but it’s memorable, recognizable boom bap record for that crowd it’s a hit
That’s my point though. It’s not just about party records. Or sales.

These dudes want Nas to be on Hov level so bad it’s sad. So instead of just appreciating Nas work. they feel inferior like it’s a indictment of them and shyt. They live in their own world. Dude posted ”made u look” was never released as a single :dahell:
It’s mind boggling to think a record label would not release a lead single for one it’s biggest artists. A plat artist at that :mjlol:

they live in their own fantasy world lol
but as much as they frustrate me. These dweebs are entertaining AF :mjlol:
@ me next time.
Record labels realized in the late 90s that singles sales were cannibalizing album sales and so singles being commercially available for purchase were drastically reduced.

it wasn’t until iTunes came around that the market for singles came back.

but I guess you didn’t know that.

Because you are comparing him to Jay-Z

So, Jay-Z is this godlike figure in hip hop that Nas can't touch? This is the narrative now? :gucci:

You guys get so caught up in this fandom shyt that you don't see you're just downplaying someone else to boost the person you're riding for. Why can't Jay have more commercial success and more Billboard hits without looking at Nas like some third-rate bum that nobody cares about? It's not like he had one hot album and never did anything beyond that. He's a legend in the game and he should be treated like one.

Ya calling shyt like Empire State of Mind and Change Clothes wack when those would shake the room in a Versuz. Whether y’all like it or not a lot of people recognize and fukk with those records.

And Jay got enough b-sides and deep cuts and “real hip-hop” shyt to fukk with Nas it’s not just pop shyt. Nas super stans is the reason why he’s so pigeonholed in his career because y’all paint him as this anti-commercial real hip hop nikka.

Anyway Hov beats Nas. Once you get past the God’s Son era it’s not many records worth posting.

I think tracks like What More Can I say and Hovi Baby would “shake the room”. Those pop tracks aren’t getting played in Jay versus especially against a rappers rapper like Nas. Jay going to have to stick to his classic bangers. Not that fluff.

Nas stans don’t box him in that’s the media and haters. Remember he got killed for not making Illmatic part 2 when It Was Written came out. Tracks like you not see me tonight, you owe me, hero, make the world go round. Get shytted on even though they are quality records meanwhile Jay can put out duets with Justin Timberlake, ghetto techno, off that, things you do, I know what girls like etc. and still be praised.

Why do people bring up "Ghetto Techno"? That song is not on any Jay Z album. It is a leaked song that isn't even CDQ. It was never intended to be on a Jay Z album. That song was supposed to be on Timbaland's Shock Value 2.

To be fair, I stopped in the mid 2000s. I tried to include songs by both Swizz and Timbaland, because it's their format, but Nas doesn't have a Swizz beat. One thing I noticed while making this is that while I'm more of a Jay fan than Nas, I prefer Nas' list more. It just wouldn't win in an environment like Verzuz. They would also have to extend this to 30+ songs because 20 is too limiting.

RZA and Premo played they most recognizable songs period.

false. Prem didn’t play mass appeal first 20.

Jay can make it hard for Nas with just post 2010 records
  1. What’s Free (Meek, Ross)
  2. FWMYK (Ross)
  3. Otis (Kanye)
  4. nikkas in Paris (Kanye)
  5. Story of OJ
  6. Pound Cake (Drake)
  7. I do
  8. Seen it all (Jeezy,3K)
  9. Free Mason or Devil is a Lie (Ross)
  10. I got the keys (Future,Khaled)
  11. Clique (Kanye, Big Sean)
  12. So Appalled or Monster (Kanye, Nicki, Ross)
  13. Drunk in Love or OTR2 (Beyoncé)
  14. Drug Dealer...
  15. Ape shyt (Beyoncé,amigos)
  16. No Church in the wild (The Dream, Kanye West)
  17. Gotta Have it (Kanye West)
  18. All the way up (French Montana & Fat Joe)
  19. bytch don’t kill my vibe (Kendrick Lamar)
  20. Light up (Drake)

:mjlol:
Jay would get exposed for latching on to popular artist of those times to stay relevant. Most of those tracks are hit off name recognition alone. Drake, Kanye, Beyoncé, Migos, Kendrick, future, Ross, jeezy, Rihanna, Alicia keys, Justin Timberlake.

Yeah, they held C.R.E.A.M. and Mass Appeal to the very end. They were just holding on the bombs.

Premo played his Christina Aguilera collaboration dog. They played most recognizable and hit records from the 90’s and boom bap canon.

Those songs aren’t fluff dude. Those are songs people love. But yeah Jay doesn’t even have to play them because his catalog is versatile enough.

Nah, the Nas stans box him in. He’s being basically touted as anti-commercial, real hip-hop while Jay is being painted as this pop friendly rapper just because Nas isn’t as good at making commercially successful records.

Songs like You Won’t See Me Tonight and Hero are just mediocre. Ghetto Techno was never released. Jay has more hits than misses.

people gravitated to aEmpire State of Mind due to Alicia Keys hook not Jayz and that’s a fact. BP3 is low tier Jay album even though it’s his most successful in the modern era.

Those Nas tracks and far from mediocre.

Jay success post TBA in terms of hits are predicate on popular guests/features.

Some hit songs for sure but the problem is Jay got outshined on a lot of them. Kanye mollywhopped him on Otis, Clique and nikkas in Paris, Kendrick mollywhopped him on bytch Dont Kill My Vibe remix, Nicki mollywhopped him on Monster, hell even Big Sean had the better verse on Clique lol, etc. Nas might not have songs that are as popular bu he also has no tracks where Big Sean outshined him either lmao.
