Or don't really have hours at all...

I'm 9 to 5, but there are times when I work 10 hours there are times when I pull up at freaking 10:45.

As some one said though salary (which I am) >>>>>>>> Hourly, being salary means you know you are getting paid for your ideas/leadership/expertise etc. and not just being a body.
Even salary has drawbacks, they will work your ass to the ground

I have friends in IB and big law who clock about 11-12 hour days consistently, even on weekends sometimes. I'm salary and there's definitely drawbacks but not as bad as hourly

People who complain about a 9-5 never had to work a 6-6 night shift. They never had to work manual labor, they never had to work in factories and warehouses with immigrants that can't even speak English. I would kill for a 9-5. shyt I'd kill for a permanent job period. You don't know how lucky you are

And them kinda of jobs right there will have your ass working weekends as well until you stay long enough to get some seniority. I used to work them 1:00-9:30 10-6 shifts and they were WOAT for my social life.

If I worked a 9-5, got a raise every year, promotion every three years, 2-3 weeks vakay, had a solid pension and/or 401k, and had coworkers who were agreeable in collaboration towards mutually beneficial goals.

Problem is, I work 6:30-6:30, weekends, I didn't get a raise...no one did, and I work for one of the biggest companies in the world, no pension as per usual, 401k takes three years to vest and they only match 1.5%, and I work around a bunch of kids fresh out of college who will snake you so they look good to their bonuses and to get promotions.

I can't deal with that shyt for another 30 years for something I don't own.

All I've ever wanted was a regular 9-5 white collar gig.

Try working in a cold, dirty warehouse or anything physically demanding. You'll be so happy to get in that muthafukkin cubicle.

This. This so much.

Try being ops management for warehouse/physical labor work.

Your employee base mostly consists of either kids who DGAF or miserable/salty a$$holes who hate management because of one supervisor they had 2940 years ago.

Compound that with the fact that how well YOUR day as supervisor will go depends on how well THEY work. Even worse in production environments where its all about
"X per hour" metrics that on most days arent realistic, for multiple reasons.

I feel all the responses, from what I can tell is people clearly over blow having a solid 8 hour day of work, I've worked in a warehouse before and the job I got now is being a dishwasher and while it's chill, I work weekends with only Monday and wedsday off and working in a restaurant is miserable as hell, it's why I made this thread

To be honest, I dont mind that at all. I can understand if its a job you absolutely hate, but I dont get why people just abhor them all period. I've heard a lot of "fukk a 9-5" and "itll drain your soul" but I'd say I enjoy them (non-physical labor of course, but if you work out enough you can get used to that quicker anyway). I mean think about the hours, you wake up early enough to embrace the whole day, and you get off before night time usually. If you got things you wanna do on the side you have plenty of time to nap before the next day starts (say you get home 6 or 7, 3-4 hour nap and its still 10, unless traffic is real bad for you). And if what ever you do has you up to like 1-3 in the morning, that nap or period of rest before will make your sleep at that time easier to have while having to wake up in a smaller time frame. And from what I can tell most 9-5 jobs have a basic learning curve where you can get the hang of things within like a week or a month. So what really so bad about one?

Do you have children?

Me, myself and I
Yeah it does sound good:francis:..I just want to be involved with my kids as much as I can my father wasn't really there that much:pacspit:...can't imagine working 7am-7pm:francis: only to see my kids late evening and barely seeing them in the morning:francis:

Many nurses are able to find time for their kids and prefer the flexible schedule. Remember, that's only 3 days/week. The other 4 days, you'll be able to see them for breakfast, after school and tuck them in at night. Plus, the money is nice, with plenty of OT if you choose.

If you are smart with scheduling and don't mind working 3-4 days in a row on occasion, you can give yourself 8 straight days off. (ex. Work Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues and don't come back to work until Thurs of the following week. :ohlawd:)

Idk how having someone own blocks of your life and exchanging your time for a wage just so you can live is not soul crushing

Be a wage earner and be fine with it yall
doesnt the government already do that by way of things like taxes and your social security and having tabs on you every second and if you aren't porcelain in skin having almost everyone judge you 24:7. Having a job period is good but I don't see how sitting down or standing up bull shytting for a few hours is that bad, didn't we all do that in school for like 12-16 year straight? You're owned period no matter what
