Is A+ cert pretty useless in 2019?

Im not good at school shyt. All these videos are giving me anxiety. I think if I don’t pass the 1001 on first try I’m gonna give up
Don't approach it that way, you're setting up yourself for failure thinking like that. When you're at the point when you think you're ready to schedule the 1001 take as many practices exam as you can that will help with some of the anxiety. You should know the best way you learn. I used a book and videos to study. I had to read because the class required us to turn in notes. I think you should read the chapters that go over the 1001 and take notes it will help you retain the info better. Passive learning is hard when all you have is a talking head hitting you in the head with tech terms and acronyms.
A book will lead you by the hand by Bolding all the important topics, providing definitions, and acronyms plus you can go to the index when you need to find a topic or term.
Don't think of this as school or punishment you're getting into an industry where you'll be a life long learner along with being a self-learner. Right now the A+ looks like one big ass task I know its a lot. What I learn studying tech is to break a problem down into a smaller problem that is easier to solve.
So CompTIA A+ 1001 Core 1, has 5 Domains and each domain has subdomains here's what you need to know for each domain https://firebrandtraining.co.uk/pdf/comptia-aplus-220-1001-exam-objectives.pdf
  1. 1.0 Mobile Devices 14%
  2. 2.0 Networking 20%
  3. 3.0 Hardware 27%
  4. 4.0 Virtualization and Cloud Computing 12%
  5. 5.0 Hardware and Network Troubleshooting 27% Total 100%
Study one domain at a time you can break down even further into Subdomains; Study one subdomain until you finish the whole domain.
Subdomain 1.1 Given a scenario, install and configure laptop hardware and components: read up on it and take notes on everything in this subdomain
Once you finsh go to Subdomain 1.2 and on to 1.3 until you finish Domain 1.0. I broke the domain down into small chunks so I don't get overwhelmed and lose focus. Use the Pomodoro technique(25 min study time 5 minutes break) to manage your time studying. Use a to-do app to keep you organized and track your progress. Don't look at failure as you can't try again you still learn from that "L", I used the fear of failure and all it got me was time wasted that I can never get back. At the end of the day, the biggest hater against you is that voice inside (doubt, fear, laziness) your head telling you won't finish, you can't do that so, why bother. Don't listen to that voice

hey bro, about a page back you posted a spoiler link for allfilespdf complete practices and the link said it had virus, wanted to know if you knew another way.

Just an update, I'm in the similar situation as @track1 all this info is giving me anxiety, I'm on video 2.1 of Messner videos learning about Network devices for 1001 test and its just so much info thrown at me. I guess for me as a learner when there is TOO much info & TOO much outlets on the internet to find resources, its overwhelming as I dont even know when to start. Also the just complexity of the info on the slide show videos + Me having a full time job and getting home around 6 already tired just isn't working well. I don't want to quit this stuff as I was super proud of myself for finding something to dedicate to, but I'm having alot of doubts. All you brehs in this thread been extremely educational.

I planned to take both exams by November, but its not looking likely, I also planned on doing so too because I want to leave my current job badly.

Nah, I don't have any other resources for that book. You can get it for Kindle at Amazon for 21 dollars

I don't know where you live but, most public libraries have a deal with lynda.com to get free access to their video library. Mike Myers has a video series on the 1001 / 1002 his videos are more upbeat not like professor Messer's vidz. IT Help Desk - Online Courses, Classes, Training, Tutorials on Lynda
You can also use udemy.com these are the same videos that are on lynda.com NEW! CompTIA A+ 2019 Certification 1001. The Total Course
NEW! CompTIA A+ 2019 Certification 1002. The Total Course

Here is some practice test. I used the 901 / 902 version they helped a lot.
NEW! CompTIA A+ 2019 Cert. Core 1 (220-1001) Practice Test
NEW! CompTIA A+ 2019 Cert. Core 2 (220-1002) Practice Test

Here's another practice test resource scroll down until you get to CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Core 1 (220-1001) Practice Tests CompTIA Practice Exams

As for it being too many outlets and too much all I can say is pick one source (book or videos) and see it through. Take notes and document what you have studied e.g the domains for 1001. The way I learn material might not work for you. The same thing I told track1 is to breakdown each domain to its smallest components until you parse through the whole thing. That way you'll go through all the material and you won't be surprised on test day

So use either a book
or the Mike Myers videos. No matter what medium you use take notes while studying. The last part about working and being too tired to study I can't offer any advice but sacrifice give a little to get a little. Self Sabotage will try to creep in when learning something new.

Thank you breh, really appreciate all of this, this may be a dumb question, I've seen practice tests/exams for the 901 & 1001, are they like completely different tests or like 90-95% the same?

I don't know the ratio of what was added to the 1001 that differs the 901. I'm sure there's some overlap between the two exams. I would just focus on the current exam material.

When I took my A+, I first read a book first. Broke it down to a few chapters a day to understand the concepts and then went to the messer videos and watched them in their entirety(the videos were easy to understand and follow along because I had already read the book.

Also when I was reading the book I took notes for myself to go back and look at when I wasn’t feeling like reading or going over new concepts. I would read my notes while watching a sports game or tv.

That’s how I learn though. Everyone is different

Wish I knew about certs when I was 18, I would have focused on this instead of anything else.

So I’m in school now and work, I plan on studying for the network+ because I was recommended to go right to that instead of the A+.

I know about a little bit of tech and troubleshooting.

But right now I’m trying to think can I handle adding studying this to my current schedule.

This school shyt is taking time from me.

So I’m wondering how long would it take to prepare for the test with a kind of busy schedule?
