This question got my crew heated.

Name 10 better.
the answer is NO. top 30? YES. top 20? no but close. and to those that keep saying vince and tmac were not SG's. yes they were. they were shooting guards/Small forwards

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/cartevi01.html

and yes AI was a PG/SG

not that i completely trust this list. but this shows you how he falls out of the top 20

http://hoopshabit.com/2014/11/18/nba-power-rankings-best-30-shooting-guards-time/

and am i ready to say he was better then joe dumars knowing manu's defense is and has always been suspect(we're not just talking steals stats).

No matter where he is, he wins. That's all that matters.
why even waste fingers stroke posting something like this when the thread specifically is talking about where the guy ranks in a historical context? by that logic Tyronne lue is a winner so it doesnt matter if i say he's a top 20 pg of all time. Someone brings up something it needs to be addressed to prove it or disprove it, assuming you have the data to do either.

didn't feel like going to Wikipedia or Basketball reference digging up a bunch of stuff just to sound pretentiously thorough so I decided to be concise.

Thank you for your concern though.

I guess it depends on how you view the top 10...

If you talking NBA only...and you talking stats...I can see how you leave him out...dude spent some seasons not playing enough minutes to even be nominated for the 6th man award...

You talking about winning...the list of SG with 4 titles is very short...you talking about coming up big in big moments...been their done that...you talking about his international career...dude is easily the most decorated international player of ALL TIME...dude has a gold medal and has won a title in every league he has ever played in...

So if we talking about the regular season...I can see putting 10 other two guards on the floor in front of him...

But the money season? The 16 game season...nope...only guys getting major minutes at the two over him are Jordan and Kobe...everyone else is playing a MAX of 24 minutes cause Manu is playing the other 24

LOL at some of these list...AI spent 90% of his career playing point and now we putting him in front of Gigoatli at the 2:mjlol:
We should be talking about only the SG you seen play.

That would make the convo more interesting and worthwhile.

People naming the Iceman I hope you freeze in hell.

I remember Vince being a shooting guard for much of his time in Toronto and definitely in Jersey with Richard Jefferson there so i'll put him in the mix there for people saying he was a small forward. T-mac too who I remember playing shooting guard with the Rockets with Battier at the small forward spot. And AI played shooting guard from about his second or third year up until around 2005 and then played it again in Denver too I believe. So he's on the list too. And that's not including Jordan Kobe Wade Ray etc. So for me Manu doesn't make the top ten but like others have said it's mostly cause of his lack of stats. But I cant put him over these guys cause they all have at least shown they can put a franchise on there back and lead them for 82 games which Ginobili never had to do. He was/is a beast but because of that and coming off the bench for most of his career he can't be put ahead of those 7 right there. And that's not even including cats like Mitch Clyde Reggie the Pearl etc. who could/should be put over him too. But if we are talking about the most clutch shooting guards ever we may have a whole other discussion.

All I know, is on 2k12 I got Ginobli as my back up SG and Jason Terry as my starter. Cause even though he's only like a 77 or so Jason Terry stay with 40+ points 10 steals and 10 assists. Ginobli gets like 20-25 or so a game, thats with them both playing like 32-34 minutes... so...
:manny:

I know this don't have shyt to do w/real life. Just saying...
