Nintendo was technically hardcore during the 80s to the early 2000s, for every Mario there was a Killer Instinct. For every Zelda, there was Chrono Trigger. Nintendo didn't hit it's true casual peak the moment the Wii dropped and holy shyt, it was the end of the era for gaming to be a safe haven for ones that been there since day one, as old heads and your sister Judy can play shyt like this:



Hence, the world got introduced to shovelware and to this very day, Nintendo have folks each out of garbage pails with the seal of approval.

Nintendo BUILT the gaming industry, breh.

The industry as we know it would have never been what it was without the OG Nintendo, and the SNES is still a top 2 console of all time to this day. (Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid >>>)

And even though their decision to stick with cartridges for the 64 drove away a lot of third party developers, Mario 64 and Ocarina are still certified game changers that codified everything a 3D game should aspire to be.

Arguing that Nintendo dumbed gaming down as a whole makes no sense because Nintendo is the main reason the industry as we know it even exists. Mario laid down the ground rules of game design across multiple timelines and dimensions.

But the gaming industry is just a reflection of the modern era. Kids nowadays have so many more options than gaming.

I had a Nintendo Wii but I only played tennis on it, never got a chance to get a boxing game for it, eventually I'm going to open my Wii back up though because it was fun

I don't think Nintendo has dumbed down the gaming industry but it seems to me, and I'm a casual player, but it seems imo humble opinion Nintendo targets kids more than Playstation or XBOX

I was gonna get a Nintendo Switch in a few months, but I swear like 90% of the games for it were Mario Brothers games, I saw like one game for Switch with a bunch of Sega Genesis games on it, but I need to see more non Mario games for Switch, I used to be a gamer when I was young, but now I'm a casual, so I'm gonna do a lil more research
