There's nothing clutch about Dame lmao, he is barely a Top 5 point if his era. Dude is a perennial choker, don't let last season erase the rest of his career...

Westbrook was a better #2 with KD and PG than Dame was to Aldridge, and since Aldridge left Dame has folded every playoffs. He got bailed out by CP3 and Blake getting hurt in '16 because the Blazers were down 0-2 in that series with Dame shooting .333/.214/.818 and averaging 19/4/5.5 (1.4:1 assist to turnover ratio) in those first two games---->regular season that year he was .419/.379/.892, 25.1/4/6.8 with a 2.1:1 assist-to-turnover rate...

As usual he was getting his ass kicked before Clips fell apart, and that really is the story of every playoffs for him. Was hot and had the series of his life vs OKC last year and got progressively worse in Rd 2 and Rd 3...

I don't know that I'd call Dame a better leader, either...

Kyrie is clutch but injury prone and a cancer, I can see the argument for him more, though...
Dame is better than Westbrook and has owned Westbrook

Dame is a much better closer than Westbrook and he is clutch you can get the stats on that hes one of the best with the ball in his hands under 5 minutes and has plenty of gamewinning shots. The playoff thing it isn’t all on him.

Whether he ranks higher than Westbrook is another debate though

Also, Walt Frazier isn’t even being brought up...

2x NBA champion, 7x All-Star, 7x All-Defense, 6x All-NBA.

He was literally the first NBA player to get his own sneaker with his Puma endorsement, one of the flyest dudes ever, and first true basketball superstars.

36 points and 19 assists in a game 7 of the NBA Finals...

A lot of these guys on here you just can’t put them over Walt...

SMH at some people putting a ball hog like Westbrook ahead of Kidd, Paul, Nash, and Frazier.

If Westbrook was truly a top 10 pg he would've deferred/won multiple titles with KD.

Westbrook is a low IQ basketball player who can't run an offense or play defense.

Westbrook is an odd case. His production screams all time great, but then you watch him collect rebounds often contested by no one and chuck up 30 shots to score 30 points and grab 3 steals with 8 blown assignments and suddenly it makes sense why his numbers don't necessarily translate to better team performance.

Few would disagree that Westbrook is more talented than Isiah Thomas ever was. But when the Pistons hit their stride from '88-'90 Isiah accepted a lesser role for the benefit of team balance, and when they needed him to assume a ball dominant role in the playoffs he often did so. One could argue that Detroit was the best team in the league for three consecutive seasons when healthy. Could Westbrook set his ego aside and sacrifice numbers for the benefit of a great team? Not sure. He's always been focused on being the center of attention for an offense, and it's questionable at best whether he can be the alpha omega for a title winning team.

Maybe if the 2016 WCF goes differently this isn't a question. I remember thinking during the series that he was playing at a top 10 all time PG level. But then the final three games happened where he shot terribly and made a lot of costly mistakes.

The way that Westbrook builds a strong case for the top ten all time, imo, is if he can string together enough seasons at a top ten level so that his career longevity is great. He may be on the path to doing that if his recent resurgence at age 31 is any indication.

I think about KD, LeBron, Kawhi and Harden being paired with a Steve Nash. Chris Paul, Damian Lillard or Kyrie Irving and instantly think MULTIPLE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Lebron and Kyrie is an example that was already proven to work and would have worked at least 3 straight times if not for injury + the Warriors being the best team of all time.

KD and Steve Nash is probably the scariest combo on offense ever between a PG and a forward. Give Nash a 3 and D guy to cover his non athletic ass on defense and it'd be a WRAP. Like LeBron and Kyrie, Harden + CP3 would likely have at least 1 or 2 rings if not for the Warriors.

Don't even get me started on Curry with any of these guys.

Westbrook is not better than any of those dudes man. He's just a better athlete with a louder, more stat hungry game. He'd be a difficult fit with LeBron actually and was an unnatural one with KD as well.

Definitely rooting for him to get a ring and he's been playing much better lately, but nah.

Ya'll should be fired as GMs taking Russ over Nash or CP3 for sure. Arguably the two best passers to ever play the position, two of the best shooters ever at the position (especially Nash) and an elite defender in CP3 over a guy who stat pads and can't shoot?

I hate when people say this usually, but a lot of yall dead ass don't watch games.

as a pg, nah, he kinda a trash point guard low key. But as a shooting guard he is up there.
Sort of like iverson, but with less excuses for not winning a ring.

this.

i dont even consider westbrook to be a real pg....that nikka just PLAYS pg

to me a pg is a facillitator...he runs the offense....westbrook IS an offense...not the same thing

edit: i never considered iverson a pg either

Well considering AI was a SG by position... why would you. By every metric you can judge a PGs facilitating and playmaking, Russ is one of the best to ever do it. Lets pull up the stats.

But then again you thought AI played PG— so that tells us where your BBIQ is.
