Well...

Russell has always had the talent along with specific strengths he could play to. People relegated to the idea that Russ would always look out of control with bad shot selection for the rest of his career

He stopped it cold turkey. I can’t recall a time since the Capella trade where Russ has looked manic. This version of Russ could have been him since 25.

This version of Russ has more solo success winning in OKC
This version of Russ keeps Kevin in town

Big fan of Westbrook, but he's not a Point Guard. Neither is Curry

I agree with this, he's about of much of point guard as AI was, so he's in a interesting position..

Magic
Stockton
Isiah
Curry

Are the only point guards clearly above him, he's second tier tethering on to be first tier, the outcome of the playoffs this year would of added alot of his true legacy....

If we're talking scoring in the paint he's probably top 5. :manny:
His problem is not enough iconic finals moments or gaudy stats.
Finals MVP btw. Westbrook averages a triple double and he can't even be trusted with the ball in the parking lot :francis:

but bringing up iconic finals moments while trying to talk up westbrook as a top 10 pg? :patrice: you had to have realized how backwards the logic just got

Westbrook is the king of the box score

All due respect but Tony Parker was never in Westbrook's stratosphere. Tony Parker in his prime leading a team like Westbrook had in his MVP season would be top 5 in the lottery, he damn sure wouldn't look like a MVP on that team.

TP is good player tho. His name should never be mentioned in top 10 discussions.

Russ's MVP season they didn't even win 50 games :russ: he led them backwards if anything.

Chris Paul about to give them a better season with a worse team. But Russ top 10?

I think Sam cassell was better than John Stockton. In fact there’s a a lot of PG13 I’d choose before Stockton and I know he has the longevity and numbers but Kevin Smith, billups, hell even baron davis I would choose over Stockton
Stockton is top 3 in steals and assists, led a team to two finals against Mike, and is the best pick and roll guard of all time. The trolling gotta stop.

I absolutely agree, but the numbers speak for themselves.

It's kind of like how Westbrook is already top 10 statistically as a point guard while never being THE point guard in his era. If I had to pick one for my team I'd easily pick Kyrie, or Dame over Westbrook even though they are lower on the PG hierarchy historically.

Kyrie and Dame for their superior shooting? Because I can't see an argument for anything else lol...

all these lists and no tony parker mentions :unimpressed:

better at putting up fake numbers i guess :manny:

he's never been better than deron williams. fukk a top 10

is he even better than baron davis? chauncey? this dude more likely to lose his team a playoff game than win it for them

If we're talking scoring in the paint he's probably top 5. :manny:

I'd take Tony as my PG over anybody I've ever seen, he's my second favorite player ever and by a mile is the most consistently great, clutch PG of the last 20+ years. By a mile...

When I think of All-Time boards I try to objectively weigh the entire body of work cumulatively. Parker's overall legacy is behind all of these guys, basically the only thing he can hang his hat on is you knew you could depend on him to play big in big games, you had no doubt. And that means alot, I'd put Parker in my Top 15 for sure but his overall credibility doesn't match his postseason weight...

Walt Clyde Frazier being unbelievably disrespected in here.

I could be off here, but my impression of Walt is he had a really short peak as an elite guard relative to the other guys on the list. But this may have been a mistake, I guess a good number of people would have him in their Top 10...

Even with facing lesser competition Walt Frazier hasn't done anything comparable to Westbrook outside of winning 2 championships. We don't really value 70s championships :manny:

Jerry West and Oscar Robertson the only point guards of that era that can be in this discussion.

I always thought of West as more of a 2-guard, no? If I'm wrong I made a major oversight, he is definitely near the top of the list...
