Thought my unemployment was rough and was going to get better but living in nyc with the coronavirus happening doesn't look too great

The good thing I've put sys ops on hold and ramped up my training in linux, redhat and cisco. I don't want to take the certs but I do want the knowledge.

But now that I'm really training on these subjects it makes sense to study this before going more into sysops.

this may be a time you can land a remote gig.

side note, bombed the hell out of a interview earlier lol

That would be my goal honestly. I know Texas is big on cloud right now so if I could find a remote gig and then eventually move out there, that would be fantastic.

A few vulnerabilities have come out in the last week that has caused me to have to spin up a couple of projects. It's crazy how people seem to run away from projects. I don't know nearly as much as people think but I try my best to learn as much as I can. Each project is an opportunity for me to learn something new that I can use to push myself to the next level.

I've been trying to study at home but keep getting interrupted by co-workers over IM. I have to be ready to switch jobs once this is all over but still can't get much studying time.

Ok so I don’t have IT experience and I was thinking about getting an A+ cert but my homie said cyber security is where it’s at and try and get security+ cert instead. I don’t really want to go to school and thinking about using Udemy to learn since the courses are cheap.

Any advice on how to get the cyber security field?
