The whole process is killing me. Converting to binary Im definitely not getting. I know I could use a calculator but I need to be able to do it by hand. Its a bit fustrating. Im gonna keep at it though and read over your notes and see if I can get it. If not maybe the networking path just ain't my lane. :to: One way or another I gotta find a escape from help desk. Ima keep grindin. Apprciate the help

Breh, there's a million and one resources online that'll show you how to subnet. Start googling and check YouTube, and practice. Do nothing but subbetting for like 2-3 hours and you'll be straight.

@bdizzle @RubioTheCruel @Ice_MF_Mike I got a foreign connect for IT jobs :ehh:

I'm being put in for a position that says they'll pay for my CCNA and give me networking experience, as well as pay some other education.

My question is, if I start doing contract work out of the country (this would be in New Zealand) would it affect my future ability to get jobs in the US? The skills and experience should be universal right? :lupe:

The only thing the matters are the skills that you know. As long as you're skillset is increasing where you work is irrelevant.

I'm a Sr System Administrator right now, need to find a way to break into the six figures asap

Any ideas?

I want to go into System Engineering but once you get in there, people don't leave!

The reason you're not at 6 figures is because you probably don't have a six figure skillset. Go online and look for jobs that pay 100k plus and see the skills they're asking for me. You might need to pass some new exams, learn some new skills, or a combination of both.

Are you Windows or Linux admin and what skillset do you have?

Yesterday before I went to bed I spent probably an hour and some change tweaking up what I already had , basically putting my skills and computer knowledge on there , but I'm still not really satisfied , I feel like something is missing for some reason . I've been doing this almost everyday for like a week .

Good looks for the valid advice breh , will definitely follow suit :salute:

Look up IT resumes, see what formats they use, then swagger Jack em. That's what I did.

The confusing thing for me initially was all the different methods and styles of calculation that seem to be out there. The trick is finding a method of thinking about subnetting and the calculation that works for YOU. Like bdizzle said, work on it for a couple days. Watch a few different videos and read sources. The actual calculation is not that hard, once you get your own personal process worked out and you can only do that with some pen and paper practice :manny:

Consider yourself blessed man. Every help desk Ive been at is hell on earth.
Oh i've been there.

High volume Call Center is much worse tho, and there's people who do that shyt forever.

But i've been really "blessed" in my last two positions.
