I couldn't stand his slow talking ass. I had him on 2x half the time. Shad was my boy for testout though. I looked him up and he'sTestout does have alot of talking heads, but the worse is that dude R. Tracy. Dont get me wrong, He' was the best virtual instructor for my A+ and even then it was in small doses. But 90% of the videos for the Install and configure course for the server 2016 course has him during the talking and are an average of like 16 minutes. a piece.
Also, I just found out about the link you dropped yesterday and realized the limitations for installing shyt. Its cool and i appreciate it, but I'm just gonna resume my CCNA Routing and Switching studies since I retained a decent amount of it and already invested alot of time into it. After that I'll wrap up the year with Sec+ and ITIL.
This will also give me time to decide if I want to go Red Hat or Microsoft by January next year.
Always. IT life got me like a kid in a candy store. So much I want to learn. Hell for the longest I was intimidated by programming languages and shyt, now I can honestly say Im willing to dive in if the path I wanna go down deems it necessary for career progression. Self study has made me a better person as far as discipline goes. Always having a goal to achieve, a reason to get outta bed beyond the rat race. To honestly I feel like this come up i'm experiencing , I've obsessed over it so much to the point I willed that shyt into existence.
I thought I was driven before, but I just feel 1000 times more driven now. I finally know what its like to get that hustle bug, tirelessly working towards my goals with not an ounce of quit in me, fueled by all the game dropped in this thread. I cant even right now....like seriously I was never gonna give up but I just got one gigantic second wind to push harder.
Trust bruh, I'll def keep grinding. In fact fukk a grind mode, it's a grind life for me. I literally feel like "money making" Mitch in Paid in full, I love the game too much. The thrill of chasing the bag and having a purpose in life. Dog I love this shyt. Im going as absolutely far as this shyt takes me. To prove I aint just lying and riding a temporary high, Im gonna check in with this thread every time I hit a milestone in my career and even in between just to share some game and keep the morale high.
This thread single handedly set me on the path to righteousness LOL. The power of information is real. I've read this thread front to back at least 10 times since january of last year. When I get tired of studying, I take a break and read through this thread, When I'm eating, I read through this thread. and the great thing is, even if I skip over some info I dont think is relevant to me ATM, It will eventually speak to me when i've reached a certian point when I browse through again. This thread is my IT Bible. Thanks everybody that contributed, for real.
What's up yall, I'm pretty new to the board myself (also from nj) but I work as a DevOps engineer for a start up in NYC. I'm still very new to the tech scene (1 year jr lvl) but I was blessed to land a job.
Taking it in halves since I am a networking dunce. Wont have that option after February of next year.Might as well focus in getting the CCNA instead.
Passed the 902 today and finally got my A+.once again thanks everyone for the motivation, information and resources.
Plan to take the network+ by October at the latest and finish the security+ by February..then start school back after that to finish my degree.

Mind telling some of us newer brehs about your come up and you road there?
I lost my job and I said f it I'm learning how to code because I always thought about it. So I looked of full stack software engineering schools and I found one out west called the holberton school. It's a school that teaches how to become a software engineer and you dont have to pay anything until you find a job and then they take 7% of your check for a few years. After I passed their interview process I just hopped in my car, drove to San Francisco and made the best of it (they now have a school in San francisco and colombia)
It was HARD, the hardest thing i have ever done educationally but was worth it. I had chances to visit/apply at places like google, linkedin, apple, all of the big companies but I wanted to work back east in nyc.
Now I'm working for an artificial intelligence start up in the city and I couldn't be happier.
DM If you would like to know what I studied and worked on
For those who have Network+ did you buy a book or just use videos and notes? I had the A+ book by Michael Myers but never made it past a few chapters, was a damn chore to read that thing. Used his videos and Messers videos to pass instead..I probably can do the same thing with Network+ but just hesitant because of all the new information.
His test experience (watch until 8.00) mirrors mines I did everything he did except![]()
