Why didn’t we hear any of these takes when he won 1 playoff game in two years? :jbhmm:

From 1987 to 1992, Hakeem went five straight years of his prime (ages 25-30) without winning more than 1 playoff game in any year.

87/88: Lost 3-1 to the Aguirre/Blackman Mavs
88/89: Lost 3-1 to the Ellis/McDaniel Sonics
89/90: Lost 3-1 to the Magic/Worthy Lakers
90/91: Swept by the Magic/Worthy Lakers
91/92: Missed playoffs

Was Hakeem not a dominant, all-time center during his prime? Do y'all really think he sucked back then, for five straight years? Or did he just not have the necessary team around him?

Kareem was almost as bad in the same stretch of his prime. This are the five seasons from 1975-1979, when Kareem was 27-32, winning MVPs and still in his absolute prime as a player:

1975: Missed playoffs
1976: Missed playoffs
1977: Beats the Rick Barry Warriors in 7, then swept by Bill Walton's Blazers
1978: Loses 2-1 in first round to the Williams/Sikma Sonics
1979: Beats David Thompson's Nuggets 2-1, then loses 4-1 to the Williams/Sikma Sonics

We ain't talking a two-year stretch like Jokic. We're talking FIVE seasons where an experience, veteran Kareem didn't win a single WCF game and only won two series total. Yet he was still the best center in the NBA at that point and regarded by many as the GOAT.

Jokic lost to the Suns squad that went to the Finals and the Warriors squad that won a title. Outside of the Lakers, Hakeem wasn't even getting eliminated by teams like that, he was getting beat by squads you don't even remember.

Y'all still haven't figured out that bball is a team game.

We have reached the Joker is more skilled than Hakeem and Kareem stage of the game.

Aren't you the guy who said that MPJ Jr. would be better than Jokic the moment he stepped onto the court? Or that Denver was never going to get anywhere under Jokic and Malone?

Jokic is clearly a better shooter, passer, and ballhandler than Kareem or Hakeem was, and it ain't even close. Hakeem and Kareem were better scorers in the post, but Jokic is the best post scorer in the NBA right now outside of Embiid. Hakeem and early Kareem were superior defenders by a long shot.
