You got thebecause you said it wasn't meant to be a top 25 hit when that's exactly what the aim is. I have no idea how you could come to such a conclusion when even Jay told him he had one. As far as videos going into how people feel a song, obviously the video won't change the song if I'm in the car. I'm describing the visual effect on the song while viewing it. It does not embody the ambiance of the record. Power Trip is a soulful song, but it's a little more upbeat than that video. The first time I saw the video I thought they slowed down the song to fit the video.
But as far as the relevance of a video, with a great video, a song's presence can become even more impactful. I.E. Beyonce "Single Ladies." But a lot of people watch videos on youtube, just because you don't you can make such claims. There is a reason that there are advertisements on videos and why Billboard is going to start implementing video hits into it's Hot 100 analysis.
It's really not meant to be a top 25 hit, it's not overly poppy or simplistic like Work Out. It's deep and the chorus isn't overwhelming nor is the beat. It's calm and cool, a top 50/top 40 hit.
I understand that the video does sway your view of the song, but I don't disagree with you. I disagree with the people who act like the video is gonna destroy the song's chances of becoming a bigger hit.
And, like I said, unless the video makes the song (ex; Gangstam Style & Single Ladies) where there's a dance accompanied with it, it's just the artist's way of getting a visual out for the song while simultaneously promoting it. Billboard is implementing video hits because it is a formidable statistic, like I said the only reason people click on videos is cuz its official and its the first thing to pop up on the search, without some sort of pitch change/sloppy quality. It doesn't really have anything to do with the video, just how relevant it is on the internet.
