I'm busy with work, but after reading some of the comments, I'll explain AGAIN what I mean.

This, "Oh it's different from the norm so it's dope" mentality from Cole stans is fukking disgusting.

Seriously, yal don't get it though. Here you are AGAIN talking shyt to someone who's a fan of Cole who just feels like he could have done much better with the visual for this video. EVEN after he went the morbid route with the video like he did, IT still could have been better than this half assed shyt that stans are eating up.

This post may be long, but after reading the comments from some of you in here... I guess it has to be lengthy in order for me to thoroughly explain why I'm not feeling this visual for the song and why I feel like the video was nothing more than a forced concept that Cole probably had in his head over 4 years ago when he dropped Dreams.

For people to come at me with the lame remarks about me wanting a run of the mill typical hoes video for Power Trip is laughable to me. I see the art in a lot of things, and I LOVE creativity displayed in music (storytelling) and when the opportunity permits... in music videos. Before viewing this video, I didn't have any idea on what kind of video he was going to make for it, and I fukked with the song since he leaked it. I knew it was a hit the first time I listened to it...But after seeing the video he came out for it, I'm a bit disappointed by it overall. Not because it veered off from the "norm", but because it lacks focus in general.

I'm going to come from the perspective of just the song Power Trip and the lyrics for a second. Basically, the song is explaining how he has been feeling this chick for a while. Quote on quote..."The longest crush ever". He even says how he's on (famous) now and he still likes ole girl. Cool. I'm sure a lot can relate. It's a simple concept and straight forward (again going just off of this song and not Dreams).

Song is cool and easy to follow. My gripe is mainly on the execution of how the video was shot. And I'll give examples...

IMO, the video should have either had an intro or been shot as a mini-movie (since he went this morbid route). For an intro, he could have started it out with just a small clip with of him checking out ole girl in the mall (he mentions this in the 3rd verse in Dreams and in his last verse in Power Trip) with that verse playing in the background and Cole and his dream girl acting it out. Then you have the conversation end (just parts that foreshadow how much he feeling her) with her walking away from Cole and having her mans (Miguel) walk up and put his arm around her or some shyt...

Now you cut away from that and queue Power Trip...
So the correlation can begin to the viewer: Cole hollered at this chick but she's taken... to take it further, after he peeps who she's with (Miguel) this nikka follows them to the crib, and it transitions to the scene you see where he's outside peeking in the window.

From there you can show this dude Cole in the strip club (like the video plays on some but not enough IMO) just there, but still thinking about his dream girl. While he's in the club in deep thought, they could have put in some quick flashback type shots of him in elementary school too scared to holler at ole girl, highschool etc, all while he's in the club with strippers and ass all in his face

He's power "trippin" and just sprung on this girl.

Now a dope way for how he could have ended the video (even with the murder scene) would have been for it to play out like it did. You see him dumping the body on the side of the road. Then you show him back in the strip club, while he's just thinking up this crazy ass scenario... and his guy taps him to get his attention. Cole looks at his guy and his guy points out Miguel walking in the strip club... (with a to be continued...?)then you could fade to black and the viewer would really be mind fukked.

I know it's long, but oh well. I just think that it was poorly executed and a half-assed effort that could have been much better.
