Unfortunately the fact that teams can trade players and the players have no say and/or prior knowledge to where they end up, unless they have a clause in their contract, makes them property.

you can say fukk it and choose not to play. just know that you give up the millions in the process.
You're paid for a service, that's it. And the terms of that service include language that your services can be moved whenever desired by the team owner UNLESS you can negotiate otherwise.
Comparing this shyt to slavery has always been corny. It was literally life or death with slavery and the language of slavery specifically designated you as property. This is entertainment.
While I think Silver was kinda corny having team owners referred to now as governors, I get it. You own the TEAM, not the PLAYER.
