I remember people going through his whole family tree claiming he wasn't really black, yet was the mainstream rep for dancehall , especially since this (at least i consider) was the second wave of dancehall. Tbf, not sure if it was Americans, Jamaicans or jamaican-americans doing that though.

Yeah there’s a lot of classism in Jamaican culture. I used to work with a J’can lady and she had nothing good to say about the “ghetto” Jamaicans. She even advised me to stay away from certain spots and subsets when visiting JA. So yeah, there’s tension between the social groups that outsiders don’t truly understand.Yeah.
