Exactly.

Its the reason why I loved early 2000s basketball so much. Very few cacs liked the NBA then. It was more of a hood sport. And the players exemplified it with their style and play. David Stern instituting the dress code might have increased cac interest in the league but it destroyed the sports authetincally black cultural roots.

Now the NBA is essentially a white endorsed sport. Even the style of play with all this 3-point shooting versus the street ball one on one style of the early 2000s has been brought in to placate their tastes.

The black influenced NBA as we know it died a long time ago. What we have now is some bizzaro cac inspired sport.

I agree. Feels more like euro ball, now.

I miss the old NBA.

yeah I dont see how 90 some people dapped the other dude instead of SWAG
it wasnt the dress code its that they started drafting middle class/ upper class c00ns and phasing out the hood shyt

you're applauded now for being KAT, Jason Tatum, or International type of clown
there's no more Ron Artests, Stephen Jackson, Charles Oakley, Zach Randolphs walking through that door

people used to play physical and exciting, now when you foul a shooter on a follow through... they review it and act shocked and pretend like you tried to kill the person
Even Dwade was throwing Rip Hamilton into the floor

you do that now and people paint you like this terrible person and the league turns on you. You're actually applauded for being a soft clown now. Back when that happened Rip Hamilton lost fans, if it happened in 2021 and Rip cried about it... he would actually gain fans. People would call him brave and a man of constitution for being bullied

This is so true.

This white guy was the 12th man on our HS basketball team. He would never get into the game unless we were winning or losing by 30 in the 4th quarter.

I lost touch with him over the years. Looked up one day and he’s a contributing writer for The Athletic getting paid to shyt on dudes like Russ, because he had high math SAT scores.

Who is the writer? Just curious

Since people have a problem with "stat guys", just make sure not to use those same stats in your arguments going forward :lolbron:
Same people that won’t acknowledge the entire point of the game is to win will also start talking about rings and playoff wins etc in any conversation about lebron, Kobe, mj etc

Bu bu but analytics

bu bu bu a loser that hasn’t ever picked up a ball is a greater basketball mind than people that have actually played the sport
Coaches who have played in the league quite literally run 3 point heavy offenses.... so are they also losers who know nothing about the sport?

So much double talk in this thread.

And that's why the ratings are as low as they are now. A Lakers game only getting 3mil viewers is a God damn tragedy.

People used the excuse of COVID-19 to justify it, but now we're seeing that ratings are still down even with things starting to reopen.

That was a shytty excuse anyways because if anything you'd expect more people to watch out of boredom, I know personally my tastes have changed. I couldn't imagine just sitting around for hours watching sports like I use to. I barely watch TV anymore as it is.
