nikkas are weird on this board. Jay aint fall off harder than em

we talking about music... not rapity rap rapsI'd rank those in reverse. The fact that you think MMLP2 is decent shows we not on the same page.
Relapse is dope, probably my favorite Em album and there are better songs/verses on it than that Jay verse on DDA, easily.
and run that shyt back 15 times.. em hasn't had those since MMLP
Of course I caught a bunch of negs for making this thread. All i see is a bunch of people arguing about who is better in their prime and who could relate to who. That isn't what this thread is about. This thread is about who, past their prime, is a better rapper. Plain and simple. Nothing else. Has nothing to do with where Em or Jay grew up. Watch the throne was amazing, yet Jay Z was the worst part of that project. I can say this as a Jay Z stan. I see no evidence being presented besides one person bringing up drug dealers anonymous (which was good, but how good was it really?). You listen to that and think "oh, this isn't bad for modern Jay Z versus when you hear something by Em and think "damn, he can still rap his ass off".
Bunch of haters itt. Ol boo hoo I can't relate to his music ass nikkas![]()

we talking about music... not rapity rap raps
em would rap circles around 99% of rappers
now put those to a beat, a flow, a good hook, a song that makes you "GODDAMN"and run that shyt back 15 times.. em hasn't had those since MMLP
Eminem has and always will be pure trash
I'm not one of those people who thought BP 3 was complete trash. I really liked a few songs from it. But Jay's trend hopping is so obvious on it and his flow is such a fall from grace that I can't ignore it. Meanwhile while Eminem may have shytty hooks and some shytty beats, his rhyming still impresses me. The blueprint and volume 1 are some of my favorite hip hop albums of all time, I rank them very high. But I don't let them cloud my judgment. I don't enjoy Jay after BP2. I think the black album is a very overrated album. American gangster was good, but is overrated by Jay stans. But after that, i am much more impressed by Em than JayzWell I'm kind of biased as I'm not a Kayne fan but WTT just made me want a Jay solo.
And I still get plenty of those "damn" moments from Jay depending on what kind of track he's going for. "Thank You" off BP3 is legenadry slick talk, vulgar and elegant all at the same time.
For one, Jay's part on that song was dope, but it wasn't THAT dope. I would def say a song like Deja Vu trumps that one off verse, seduction, stay wide awake, but that's me though.
The funny thing is, Em was never on. He didn't get play in the hood, didn't get play in the clubs, aint never had a crew, didn't get mixtapes poppin, never had hot 97 or power 105 going crazy...fukka Em. Dude aint a part of real hip hop like that I dont care how many people respect him. He's a fraud, a transplant. Between him and Jay its Jay all day. Everybody from the hood got problems, aint nobody tryin to hear goofy raps and raps about killing your mom and the same old song about a bytch. He can't put it on wax like Jay (and many others).
when did Jay ever fall off?
Nonsense. Don't sit around and front like Eminem didn't pay dues. Dude grinded just like Jay. Everyone struggles and grinds but not everyone's grind is the same.
It's certain songs I could relate to that Em has made and Jay.
Both have made their mark on hip hop.
And as far as Jay falling off. Dude is damn near 50. As long as he's making music be happy. It's not like hes making pure trash be happy he's still making music cause at some point we wont have him anymore.
It isn't like half yall pay for the shyt anyway
drug dealers anonymous is better than anything em put out since his 3rd album
How does Hov fall off, if he's still on top ?
On some real shyt. Em had a good succesful run and is 1 of the greats. But overall, Jay made/makes better music and has a better catalog. Also...in the big picture, Jay has done more for hiphop then Em. And continues to do so.
I disagree with that. The line in question wasn't general because of the emotion behind it. Even with all of the wild scenarios going on in that song, it's all coming from a place of desperation and honesty that can be felt because that's what his mindset really was at the time. Now I've argued against this but people like to paint Jigga as some sort of shallow ass rapper even with gems like "You must love me" sitting in his catalog. But even with joints like those it's more of an A for effort type of deal. A song like Meet the parents got ridiculed because it wasn't convincing regardless of how much detail he could give you with literary devices. Same thing with a joint like Minority Report.
Aside from his skin tone and Dre's co-sign, Em's ability to convey emotion is probably the biggest reason for his success.
See that's where you fukked up at IMO.
He wasn't supposed to "resonate with real nikkas" he was supposed to bring you into his world and experiences, which he did. Judging him by how much of your life he reflected back to you is missing the point. This is Hip Hop so of course there has to be some common ground but once he decided to actually put himself into his music (instead of just being good a rap, ie, Infinite) it wasn't about fitting in. Had he bypassed showing you Hip Hop through the eyes of the "crazy white boy" archetype he would have been random Rawkus rapper #5.
Buffalo bill is kinda untouchable, breh.
Rock bottom is untouchable, and the definitive poor struggle song of the 99- into the 2000's.
If I had a dollar is still as definitive a keep it real record in the history of rap and was on a release as an unknown that catapulted em to a higher draw than a failed jiggy associated jay as a draw with puff.
This board is really showing they are just pop rap fans and don't know actual skill in emcee'n with the comments i am reading in this thread.
There is no way to champion jay over Eminem culturally in hip hop, period.
