Joe was a great motivator and he's the primary reason for the Jackson's success; however, he was abusive and he robbed those kids of a childhood.

Success comes at a cost and that is the cost he was willing to live give up for the cost of success.

He robbed Michael of himself not just his childhood. Michael never grew up to be a fully actualized adult human being. IMO Michael had some form of personality disorder and most likely more than one.

Not everything that he did, or how he did it. He went a little overboard whipping his kids asses for missing a dance step, or some of the other acts he did, but he got his family out the hood. He's the reason that his family is worth a couple Billion dollars. His son become to most famous person to have ever lived, but if it wasn't for Joe, MJ might've been some random dude working in a steel mill in Gary. .. imagine that.

He'd be lucky if he could've done that. The steel industry was dying right around the time Mike was becoming an adult. More than likely Mike would've been dead or in jail had they not gotten out of Gary. He didn’t push shyt... nikka raised 9 kids in Gary, Indiana after the steel mills were shut down and the city experienced devastating poverty... none of his girls were teen moms to my knowledge... none of his boys did dope, sold dope, joined a gang or was a menace to the community like a bunch of others.... say what you want to about Joe... he was a good father in a lot of ways that mattered
