What cultural impact did Jordan have?

How about being the driving force in popularizing the entire sport ACROSS THE WORLD.

Meh. It's hard for me to give one man credit for that. It's not like they didn't have basketball all over the world before MJ.

Maybe my thought process is a little different because I'm not a dikk rider. I do what I do because I feel like it not because I'm tying to emulate someone else. :yeshrug:

Most likely you're well older than me.

Obviously there's a reason for the demand for the LeBron, but we're talking influence right? LeBron doesn't have that same impact. People like watching LeBron play. People loved watching Iverson to the point where he was emulated, and it goes beyond basketball. Iverson was one of the first guys to have a bunch of tattoos and not look like a weirdo like Rodman. Now everyone wants to get their sleeves done. He was selling gear beyond sneakers. I don't see LeBron necessarily doing that. LeBron wasn't a polarizing figure until he took his talents to South Beach. Iverson was a polarizing figure before he even went to Georgetown, and Iverson was a lightning rod for much broader discussions of not just the image of basketball, but also society. AI was the poster child for a demographic coming up. I can't say LeBron is that even if he is a global figure /brand.

nah. white kids were certainly down.

I just think people are overstating the longterm impact Iverson has.

I mean Ja Rule and 50 cent were huge at one point too.

Also maybe im nuts but I dont quite remember the Questions being a super must have.

Everybody had those damn questions:damn:...I wuz hatin cuz we couldn't afford em:sadbron: and everybody had em.....sum nikkas got em hella late but they got em...look at it this way your comparing AI who really had more of a organic cult followwing with Lebron who is pushed down our throats by the media and has been since he wuz in highschool....ask yourself did the media EEEVER push Iverson like that?did the league really ever push Iverson like that? They knew he wuz rating and what put his games on tv but be honest....Iverson wuz way more popular then Kobe b4 Shaq left...but the league pushed Kobe more then they did iverson bcuz he wuz more bankable longrun becuz he wouldn't scar away white people, along with the fact they hated AI bringing the playground style to the nba....I don't know maybe AI wuznt big at all to white people seeing as how the league didn't force him down the throats of fans:manny:...I believe that may be the case due to the fact the media and the league talking heads basicallly pretend we jumped straight from the jordan era to the kobe and lebron era....and b4 kobe and lebron nikkas ain't have nobody to root 4 and the league had no superstar....I see your point if this is your point...but u will never be able to convince any black people of this bcuz he wuz that big in the hood that its hard to believe he wuznt that big all over...AI is R Kelly and Lebron is hootie and the blowfish:laff:

you got people out here dropping $250 on LeBron shoes and selling them for twice as much.

in fairness, only hypebeasts and die hard sneaker heads are rocking Brons like that. They too expensive and hard to get hold of for the average person.

Iverson will be looked at much different which was why it was good to see Philly show him love as to not look like scumbags fo not recognizing their great player. Even in the interview he was about to cry, you could see it. That place got loud as fukk.

I'm still not getting how you can even debate this. People are saying Lebron>AI as far as impact but neglect the fact that Lebron is a product of the AI influence. Not only that but he set a precedent that allows Lebron to have the platform he has now just as Jordan did for everyone else.

You gotta think! Jordan and AI literally put these brands on their backs and brought them back. No one was wearing reebok before AI. It was all about Jordans then AIs hit the scene and thats all you saw unless people couldn't afford them. So now that these sneaker companies know this they feel cool droppin all that money on lebron BECAUSE of players like AI.

Lebron didn't bring shyt back he capitalized off what was already built so where's the impact. What did he make popular? His whole swag is based off other nikkas so how could he impact shyt?

was anybody wearing the sleeve before AI? sorry if stupid

Nope. Funny thing is he started wearing it because of some elbow injury and just kept rocking for fashion after it healed and it caught on with the rest of the league. AI was powerful.

And yes he did start the headband craze...had nikkas rockin em with throwback jerseys :russ:
