I agree .. the kids do come first.. but who are you or me to say its a small amount. I don't know homies pay scale, his lifestyle etc... I can afford 400 a check ..hell I pay 2000 a month for my kids to go to private school ... but this isn't about you or me...

If they take 400 and check and his take home is only 150 after.. then its not a small amount.. but I thought in NY the max is 20% garnishment. assume 30 for taxes.. that should still leave a passable net

kids cost what they cost. there are some things you can do or ways to get help but ultimately if they cost more than what you got you gotta get more. Reduce your own expenses, get a 2nd or 3rd job, etc.

If you think you can provide a better life for your kids...fight for custody....I did and I receive child support from my ex that I don't even need........yes it can be expensive but look up places online in your area that may be able to help you out....

On a serious note, sucks that you going thru this. Especially in nyc where you guys have a higher cost of living. The system for child support is messed up but people need to be wise about their actions. They think a child is a blessing until things go wrong and not even God can save them.
