Cause they were hard workers but not suited for MIT. It's a scenari,o breh. Not an absolute blanket statement that blacks can't adapt. I know kids who worked hard as fukk for good grades and then in the same class kids who barely paid attention and would KILL tests like it won't nothing but had shytty grades. Those kids end up going to state instead of MIT. While the less smart kid applied there self but should have went to state and excelled there. That's saying that black students can't adapt to a school like MIT's curriculum. i entirely disagree. Sometimes you need to be around high performers to perform higher.
Eh, depends on how rigorous the class is. Professors worth anything will rip your shyt to pieces if you try to half ass a paper
But tell me again how years of straight research and analysis to write a thesis paper is a joke.A different type of knowledge and a different type of assessment.
Sorry man, but to me liberal arts are a joke.
You really gonna compare sociology to computer science?
Psych to electrical engineering?
Political science to chemistry?
We view school as a way to separate ourselves instead of a way to grow our consciousness and minds together.

I don't even know what to say about this. These are the people we need to be protesting about. These are people that effect policy for generations.
I guess I'm not surprised though.
This shyt has been going on at UT for a while now.
Psych to electrical engineering?
Not sure what you mean there. The rigors of the field of Psychology is beyond belief. There is a reason there is such a small number of Psychology PhD.'s. It is too difficult for most. The field has operationalized and studied human thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, something at one time deemed impossible. Just the understanding of the neural pathways that contribute to human existence alone puts Psychology on footing with any other science. Psychology is long past the days of being a second class science. The instruments and assessments of Psychology were challenged as less reliable and valid than more medical model instruments. The power of Psych instruments were ran and they were just as and sometimes even more reliable and valid than medical instruments such as Pap smears, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electrocardiograms. I have earned my Ph.D. in Psychology and I would put my field and the rigors of it against anyone's. You do realize that PhD.'s get more schooling than Md's right, and PhD's all have to advance knowledge by producing their own wok, i.e. dissertation.
Yea, its easier with example.
black kid with 3.8 gpa and 1800 SAT goes somewhere where the average SAT is 2200. He will get destroyed by the bell curve. Has nothing to do with race. Black kids get 2400 too. So now, this kid is in his second semester at MIT with a low GPA. He now leaves the computer science major to switch to sociology, where he curve doe not kill him, loses confidence, drops out, whatever.
Send the same kid to a state school with an 1800 average SAT. His work ethic helps him succeed, and is actually noticed. He can get research opportunities(everyone goes for them at the top school) because people will actually apreciate a hard worker. He finished the first semester with a 3.5, and has developed his study skills. Hes confident, and goes on to get a degree in computer engineering.
The 3.8 gpa 1800 SAT kid fails out of MIT and graduates with honors from UAlbany.
Second black kid. 2200 SAT from a shytty family. 3.0 gpa in high school with barely 50 percent attendance. The top schools will label him lazy. He will go to a state school and be surrounded by people far below his ability level. This could lead to a lot of different outcomes, but in the end he should be at a top school if not for family circumstance. IMO this should be the point of AA.
The first example is a phenomena Malcolm Gladwell and Thomas Sowell have written about. "Outliers" by Gladwell. And I dont remember which Sowell interview, in the interview he points out how the average black kid at MIT is in the top ten percent in Math in the country, but bottom ten percent in math at MIT.
The second one is basically my story/ anecdotal/ venting.
We're in 1933-34 Germany right now. It's only a matter of time.
Listen man this is all bullshyt. We need to get as many AA in these schools as possible. Not cause they have better curriculum (who the fukk goes to uni of Texas to become a phD in the first place) but because these are where all the connections to get a job are at. A lot of these students are at these high power schools because someone made a phone call
