I'd say My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Yes, it got rave reviews and what not, but impact wise and influence, that album came and went. G.O.O.D. Fridays, the Runaway video, and the hype surrounding the album was >>>>>> the album itself in terms of impact and influence. In comparison to every album that Kanye dropped before, MBDTF made the least amount of noise. It was one of those albums where the event >>>> than the album.

In hip-hop that might be true but in music as a whole I'm not sure about that. The group Fun. admitted that "We Are Young" and basically their album as a whole was influence by MBDTF. Also there is a clear influence of MBDTF on Lana Del Rey songs too since she even sought out some of the same producers that helped co-produce MBDTF.

So hip-hop wise it's come and gone but it influenced Indie and Pop music for almost two years.

there's a very tangible effect on production that MBDTF, a lot of people striving for more experimental stuff/maximalist approach/overproduction, which was one of the main themes of that album

im saying if MBDTF didnt come out GKMC would sound a lot different.

article is too damn ill.

do i agree with all of it? hell no.

but it's amazing to read this, because u kno THIS is exactly who kanye is, warts and all.

how many artists are willing to give that to the audience, knowing they'll likely be ridiculed/persecuted for it? some real reverse rick ross shyt. :salute:

Did you think differently about family after your mother passed?

Yeah, because my mother was — you know, I have family, but I was with my mother 80 percent of the time. My mom was basically — [pause]

Was your family.

Yeah, that’s all I have to say about that. :to::to::to:

U missed the point entirely...Kanye literally gets called a genius and revolutionary for damn near everything he does...what the fukk does that have to do with me?..dudes in this very thread are excusing his bullshyt antics and comments as him being weird and different cause he's a genius...look at the context before quoting me...

This is true. MBDTF doesnt have such an overt influence because no one can successfully recreate that sound.

I'm not saying the album was wack, in fact it was a dope album, but being honest, that album didn't have moments like:

Jesus Walks
All Falls Down
Gold Digger
Diamonds Are Forever
Stronger
Heartless

^^^ All of those songs were huge and were "impact" records. When College Dropout dropped, there was a shift in Hip Hop towards the more social and political issues. Late Registration was more so Kanye's progression sonically. Graduation is really when the tides turned and it phased out the era that 50 helped bring back to the forefront. Then 808's influenced an artist like Drake.

:heh:
