These aren’t childhood traumas Lmao

I was out of school and a guy from HU told me he couldn’t deal with natural hair and women just need to get a perm.

Imagine a breh from an HBCU saying that to you at dinner 😒
Sorry you had to go through that. Some brehs are totally screwed up mentally. However, best believe women practice colorism too.

Grown heterosexual Black man over the age of 21 discussing the concept of “colorism” is nasty.

What are we doing in here?

Another example of how so many of our conversations as a community are led by women.

:snoop:
Colorism is an issue breh. The fact that people are so defensive about it speaks volumes.

I'm sure I have subconsciously but I can't think of a time where I've done it in a conscious, overt manner. I've been attracted to light and dark skinned women. Taylor Rooks is probably the most beautiful women to me right now. In terms of non-attraction, like when it comes to how I treat people at work/school/life/etc I haven't shat on someone for being either shade. I feel like I've seen it happen though. I'm on the dark side (lol), not super dark but you get my point. And I've def met my share of boule light skin black people who clearly didn't want anything to do with me.

Everybody practices this. Now you can bullshyt yourself until you believe otherwise but I promise you.....if you have a preference at all you practice colorism. Yes even you guys on here who love darker women above all. That's colorism. It's really not the ugly word it's being made out to be. Dudes are so over the top militant they can't admit to having a preference. Kinda crap is that? :hubie::hubie:

I discriminate against any female darker than me or taller than me. With not a care given. There is somebody out there for everybody so why do I need to bullshyt myself to spare feelings?
People, like myself, have an issue with the word because it's a fact darker skin people face all kind of added institutional discrimination by proxy of being darker skinned and were historically locked out of participation in certain black groups because of their complexion...but bird brains want to add dating to that. FOH, people like what they like, get over it. Most these women talking about colorism in dating are just ugly/fat with terrible features and using their darker skin as an excuse for why lighter skin toned men don't want them. Not too many straight black men saying no to prime Bernice and Kelly because of their looks:camby:

No…well, maybe…I don’t know.

Now a days, I don’t really care about that type of thing. Pretty is pretty, attractive is attractive, and one who peaks my interest and brings me a sense of peace are the ones who get my attention now.

I’m a dark skin male, and I got it all from both black women and men. Black women have told me that they “don’t usually date darker skinned men” and “they couldn’t be with me, because they’re dark and don’t want dark babies”. I’ve had lighter men call me “black” compare me and other dark skin brehs on some “which one of y’all is darker today”. At the end of the day, it stung a little as a kid, but as I got older, I recognized it as jokes. I also understand people have their preferences, and you can’t force someone to be attracted to you. No biggie. I get plenty women of all colors, ethnicities and races that dig on me now. Can’t let that shyt get me upset or hurt my feelings

Its good you matured and recognized it as jokes. But I have to ask if these same comments were made by a white person would you consider it "just jokes" then?

I think it goew much deeper than jokes. Its apart of a long historical trend to demean and dehumanize dark skin people. Maybe thats looking into it too deep but thats my opinion

I went to elementary and high schools that were majority white. My big lips were poked fun at by a white boy in the 3rd grade. It hurt, but I recognized it as jokes when I got older. I don’t hold it against him. We became friends, and I’ve moved on. It doesn’t offend me anymore. I have big lips. That’s just what it is.

Because these conversations are used to present bullshyt a narrative that the average black man is a damn colorist. So yeah we pushing back.

These women hear what one or two colorist rappers, actor or athletes have to say and suddenly “all black men have a problem with colorism” or it’s “I’ve experienced colorism from multiple black men” :mjlol:

And you know what even if we say the average black man is a colorist, who programmed BM to be that way?. We know who and these complainers NEVER have any smoke for them :mjlol:

Then there are also more brown/dark skin black women than light skinned black women. Black People who actually come from black areas are going to grow up and be around more brown-dark skin women than light skinned women by default. So if black men revere light skin like they say then how did any of these brown or dark skin women even date or get into relationships? :russ:

Or are we gonna do the bullshyt Dark Skin girl Cinderella Colorist man fantasy where the colorist black man who is only interested in light skin just happens to find the dark skin woman attractive and just always happen to say “you look real pretty for a dark skin girl”:duck: :mjlol:
Men screw chicks they don’t love all the time. So saying that there are brown people around to negate the effects of colorism is :mjlol:

And why do we get more defensive at the people honestly sharing their experiences with colorism than the ignorant people perpetuating this mess. A lot of black people are loud and PUBLICALLY colorist. And every time they spit that dumb shyt, I hope there are more people there to psychoanalyze and break down that self-hate until it’s as unacceptable as racists using the n-word.

Also, dating lighter or even non-Blks doesn’t necessarily mean you are colorist. But when you attribute negative characteristics to individuals based on their skin tone, you mentally raped and that needs to be acknowledged.
Doesn’t mean these types are going to change their ways. But it does mean, they understand it’s unacceptable to stay near normal people if they espousing dumb ass negative hot takes about somebody of the opposite sex that looks just like them…which is weird as fukk. Male or female.

I don't have anything against dark skin people :yeshrug: and never have. I tend to find light skin more attractive on average, but I'm light myself + it's not some strict rule or whatever

Normal variations in attraction aint the problem tho.
Jackasses literally publically and loudly saying nasty, degrading shyt to people that look like themselves is weird, and a marker of cringeworthy self-hate.

We need to dig a bit deeper into the psyches of blk men and women who engage in this type of behavior.
