Sounds like someone who never considered “playing school”

if you have a one track mind to play in the league, your eyes are not even open to the lessons and ambition that school can bring. Sure you can get by, inside school, not learning much, but if you embrace it and use all resources, you can really enhance yourself.

and I’m not talking about even being doctor/lawyer type learning, just to introduce yourself to as much avenues as possible to be inspired by something, and let that inspiration and drive guide you to success, not only monetary, but to just be a more well rounded individual. It allows for better socialization and interaction, because you have more to speak on… I understand education and school is two different things, but a setting surrounded by like minded driven individuals, discussed value of academic topics while learning about things you are not immediately introduced to at a time when minds are developing, that’s invaluable

yeah skip college and go to the pros, but please have something line up in case of a emergency and have some type of education

not all dudes will succeed in the pros

Regardless of whether or not LaMelo "should" have gone to school, the entire quote is just ignorant. He's hardly even making a coherent argument - there are 5-6 sentences there but he's just rambling. Doesn't do a great job of demonstrating his point.

Whether college prepares you for some particular job is one thing, but unless you went to some scam for-profit school, if you went to college and were prepared enough and still didn't learn anything, that's on you. I can still remember shyt from every fukking university course I ever took. If you can't take advantage of the opportunities to learn in college with all that in front of you, you're probably not gonna spend the rest of your life taking opportunities to learn either.
Bro I studied electrical engineering and currently work as one. What they teach you in college and what you actually do on the field are 2 completely different things. That is why I say it’s essentially useless and doesn’t really prepare you for the job

He said “kids” and not “kids like him”. It’s a distinction. You can make money now with the NIL and not exactly be a top prospect player.
He didn’t say kids, the interviewer said kids. He said we. Referring to himself and the other players who were drafted that didn’t go to college for the reason he gave.

He’s literally repeating what Melo said to him during the interview :mjlol:

Nowhere in that interview did Melo mention top prospects. You’re making that assumption from his comments.

Don’t forget at one point and time, a lot of dudes used to skip college to play pro basketball that weren’t even considered top prospects.

Hell, even top prospects are out here getting drafted and washing out of the league without making long term major bread.

And yet it wasn’t a direct quote. If he was literally repeating it, he would have a quote of him saying it like his other statement. You seem to be hung up on that sentence so read the whole sentence then where the interviewer says:

“He thinks the ncaa should change and there should be more options so kids can make money before they get to the nba

He is exclusively talking about the players who WILL be in the nba. Not hoop dreams of doing it. That’s why he said “we” in his quote. He didn’t go to college so he clearly isn’t talking about all collegiate athletes not going to school. He’s talking about the ones who’s career path are professional athletics.

That still doesn’t change the fact that the majority of those players won’t have the success or make the long term bread potential like Melo to not need college even if they get paid before the NBA.

Look at all the top prospects over the years that flamed out a few years in the league and are now either playing overseas or in the G-League making bread crumbs. Hell, a lot of us are technically making more than them with our college degrees.

Brotha I’m not disagreeing with you on that. I’m just saying that they weren’t the people he was referring to in his statement.

He's talking about the .01% athletes guaranteed to be lottery picks, which his school quote completely makes sense.

Folks though posting referring to school in general:russ:

Imagine going to see a cardiologist who didn't go to med school:mjlol:
